The update is not a magical fix all update. May or may not fix whatever crashes/ gameplay related issues you are experiencing.

Play the game without the update first and if the game is running fine and the only issues you are encountering are performance related then go ahead and try the update to get more consistent framerate and less frequent frame drop.

Been that way for me since 4 years ago when I got a Vulkan capable gpu and proton started getting good

Under performance and stability for the update 4 patch notes, you'll see that they made a lot of fixes to the shader cache. Update 3 and all previous updates had a massive bug with the shader cache which caused really bad stuttering for a lot of people.

It Starts, but Steam "lost" this tracking as "running", so Screen remains black on streaming target (but sound ist hearable). And Gamepad doesn't work either. Running the .exe in root directory as admin, let steam keep "tracking" the game as running, and it streams the videofeed to the streaming target, but not gamepad control (e.g. other nonsteam games are working, even yuzu).

These are the most important patches regarding update 4. So far its been working great with these updates.

If you want to update your game. Make a backup of your save file and also the files that are getting override for the update.

So in the event if the update gives worse performance you can easily revert back by copying over the old files.

I have a bottleneck setup the game so far run smoothly, tried it wit ray tracing and max out setting still working perfectly, also tried I with 2 cards 3060 12g/3070 smooth gameplay

Already played 10+ hours and so far it’s 98% smooth for me, only couple (almost unoticable) stutters. Any post processing problems and graphic problem is more like ‘you’ problem

I have fps drops inside the castle on my 3080ti+12400f (qhd), my gpu works only 60-70%. It is fully optimisation problem, cuz i haven’t any problems playing other games (there is no cpu bottleneck for example in cyberpunk)

Also make sure to make a backup. Only those file that is going to get replaced.

I tested it on 2060 9400f ssd 256 32GBram on lower setting (almost all medium) also run smooth on 1080p but yeah post processing issue is there. So in my opinion the game is quite demanding

Didn’t test it, but i tested vulkan api, and with vulkan it seems better

my MX130 able to run the game on medium settings in 20 fps ( playable for me ) ofc with amazing single-digit when you are outside of Hogwarts.
