NIS is basically a dumb but good regular upscaler. If you have a 4k tv and you watch 1080p stuff or anything lower than 4k, your tv has to upscale to fill the screen. That's what NIS does but better.

FSR2 is "coded" into the game code, which allows it to know essential things like motion vectors and other game code. With that information, the upscaler can upscale with a very high precision from a lower resolution. That's also why fsr keeps HUD and text elements perfect while NIS can't possibly know what is HUD and what is 3d game space.

FSR needs to be coded into the game, NIS is a basic upscale that works with anything.

Dlss is the direct "competitor" to fsr, as is Intel's XeSS

Funny enough, on a RX 6700XT and Ryzen 5700X with 16GB RAM. AC Valhalla 1.1.2 crashed the whole system which caused the gpu driver to be disabled by windows. In the beginning of the game it was running flawlessly. But as soon as i went to Anglia , I get system wide crashes with BSODs (more than 20 times with different saves) I thought that it was a hardware problem . I finished Hogwarts Legacy yesterday without a hitch. Now I'm playing AC Odyssey without a problem too. This is the weirdest thing ever.
