I believe it all comes down to personal preference imo. Take Dead Island 2 for example. I loved the fact you had the option to select a character. I also loved how they showcased a bit of the character’s personality in the beginning to help the player choose which character they want to play as. Some players may not be a fan of this, and would just prefer to play as a character intended for the story bc they think that if they chose to play as a different character, it won’t feel authentic in relation to the story with the character they chose. I definitely felt that way a bit in the beginning of dead island 2, but I told myself that the devs that made the game must’ve spent an equal amount of time and effort to make the storyline fun, and engaging for all characters. (I chose Ryan, he reminds me of Crane from Dying light :) )

In your example, DI2, the game's selling point isn't its (lack of) compelling characters, rather, it's the opposite. First-person is the best when it comes to story-telling I believe. The world sort of passes in front of your eyes, not just the character's eyes (we get that in 3rd-person), but since you identify with the protagonist, your eyes look at the proceedings through his/her eyes basically, you get more engaged in the story. For stealth, it is the optimal perspective since when the character is discovered, "you" are discovered as well (more pronounced than in 3rd-person or strategy), so it's better for the shock effect that is key to an engaging story.

Microsoft is one of the biggest investors in Open AI. Bingchat is just Chat-GPT 4 on the backend but it could have a few less rails than actual Chat-GPT-4 I couldn't say for sure.

All AI should be open source. I specifically do not like Open AI for that reason honestly. That is why I try to use Chat-GPT as little as possible. Pick literally any other one and you are better off in the long run.
