Legally, Crimea is part of Russia, because the government there is Russian and the flag of Russia is above the administration. Nothing else matters. International recognition is not necessary.

Why does it all matter to you that much? That's a genuine Question. People will die and suffer on both sides, because politicians who start these wars will never experience any consequences. Their whole families will forever be rich and chill in USA and EU. With some exceptions of course. Regular people will suffer and will be forced to attack/defend. There are some on top, who make really good money, cause of the war. On both sides. So how can there be a good/bad guys, when we are all, in all countries under the rule of people, who see us as nothing more, than a vote in excel spread-sheet. Treaties and laws are just a piece of paper. Patriotism is just propaganda. Voting is just an illusion of choice when it comes to politics. If you cross someone powerful, you WILL be owned.
It's horrible that this shit is happening, but it's just how our world rolls and always has. There are no "good" wars. The winners will re-write the history. So why or how to care?
