Drinz is single and ready to fucking cry
I stepped in a week before the con to fix scheduling stuff, proofread the schedule, point out shit like having someone assigned to two different panels at once (you're welcome for that fix, Spazz). I realized that the schedule was... sparse, to say the least. So I made three different panels to run myself, despite never running a panel in my life.
After the debacle on Thursday with people not knowing if the con would happen, the schedule was completely rearranged, undoing much of my work. I didn't have an opportunity to fix that before the con actually happened by that point.
The hotel's screens didn't give times or places for any events, and the papers by the doors of each panel room gave inaccurate information. I didn't know where my own events were being held. Nitro had to cover up the papers with tape to prevent further confusion.
On Friday I ran a "Your First Furry Con" panel, hitting all the important talking points for being a courteous and successful con attendee. Got a bunch of talking points from similar panels on YouTube. Gave some important information. My co-panelist was scheduled for another event at the same time so I had to run my first panel alone. Got the info out, was nervous as fuck, ended the panel half an hour early after talking about everything that needed to be discussed. Had about a dozen people show up.
The after dark activities were previously nonexistent aside from the rave and the pup play panel (that I heard was literally empty), so Flynne and I created two panels to fill that gap.
On Friday we borrowed Tripp's copy of Cards Against Humanity and I ran that for a few hours. Pretty successful. About ten people were there overall. Ran that alone too since Flynne was way overworked. Could have likely had more attendance if it was done in the game room. Worth trying for next time.
On Saturday night, Flynne and I worked with Gabu to make "Scenes from a Cat," a fun after dark improv game with audience participation that used a white board to combine mad libs with scenes from a hat. Fun little concoction of a panel. I'd love to run this at other cons even if I'm not staff there. It can be done both SFW and NSFW as the con requires; I'd like to run both for different audiences if given a chance again. Had about fifteen to twenty people show up. Good times, highlight of my con. Would recommend the con do it again even if I don't go. I can send people the rules if they're interested.
Again, I was supposed to be an attendee or a volunteer. I wasn't expecting to do scheduling or run panels. As far as I could tell, nobody had proofread the schedule ahead of time or checked to see what was needed. It was messy and I wish I wasn't put in charge of it without any prior experience, especially since mistakes elsewhere eliminated most of my work anyway leading up to the con.
