He tried to settle, meaning like, he tried to take everything from mom on the basis that he cannot contact her nor does he know where she is(all lies, mind you). Only reason it never ended up actually happening is out of complete sheer luck, as Dad went the asshole route and had the ad' posted in the paper for her to contact the courthouse or something to get this settled, but mom barely reads the newspaper. Was the trailer park owner that told mom about it, like, 3-4 days before mom's live was gonna be ruined :P
So mom got lucky there. Mom will have to meet up with Dad though in a courthouse hearing, to get the divorce finalized.
