It's difficult to get hold of actual court documents in Australia. If we're lucky, there might be a judgement or Judge's remarks posted on AustLII after a hearing.

As for Notch, I'm pretty sure Karl gave him a shoutout in his last Billy Mitchell related video wrt covering Karl's legal costs. Can't wait to see what calibre of law firm Notch hooks Karl up with. The law firm representing Billy is in Cairns, and it looks like they're quite small. The Google reviews aren't that great, apparently appear to have been skewed somewhat by Karl Jobst fanboys.

Curiously, Google has them listed as a "conveyancer", which in my opinion suggests that they're more the sort of firm that you'd go to if you were buying or selling a house rather than launching a lolsuit against a YouTuber.

I didn't realise KJ actually has cancer, but I guess it explains how he's so pale despite living in Australia. He really is living life on hard mode.

I'm not sure of the other side of this "cancellation" but his humour seems pretty based. If it ends up with Notch withdrawing support, he's fucked.

So Billy was defamed by:

1) Someone claiming that Apollo Legend had to go into debt and work more hours to pay a legal settlement to Mitchell.
2) That the settlement and the financial obligations associated with it were a large contributing factor in the death of Apollo Legend.

The document claims that the settlement between Apollo Legend and Billy Mitchell involved no money.

The second claim (that he said that Billy was a large contributing factor in the death of Apollo Legend) is not well supported. Per the quotes provided, he never directly says that.

There is no real information about the actual nature of the settlement.

The whole thing is rather thin.

This has to be infuriating. The court is obliged to buy his bullshit about the tapes being altered or not his gameplay, but you can see it's mame in the videos he has on display during his world record breaking announcement.
Even if we narrowly construe the challenged statement in the manner suggested by Twin Galaxies, its argument ignores Mitchell’s chain of custody evidence that raises the possibility that the video tapes do not accurately portray his gameplay for the two scores, including that the video tapes are not originals, that they do not show his face or voice, that one of the individuals who provided the videos to Hall expressed bias against Mitchell and had a motive to alter the tapes, and that the version of M.A.M.E. that produces the finger girder was not available until 2004, after the King of Kong score was achieved. Again, we may not weigh the credibility or comparative probative strength of competing evidence; we must accept as true the evidence favorable to Mitchell.

I found this the other week, don't know if someone already wrote about it but nothing turned up in the search results.

Anyway Billy Mitchell's personal website was http://perfectpacman.com/ but he let it expire. Some Level 99 Autists discovered this, took the domain and they've written 7 absurdly long exposes on Billy Mitchell attempting to discredit him on every small dubious claim he's made.

The whole thing is fascinating, in that the author(s) did do their research. Several posts go thru decades of history including the first gamers who may hold claim to being the first to get a perfect run in Pac-Man, years before Billy did so and is erroneously credited for it (he's the first man who is verified).

Don't get me wrong I think Billy and the old management of Twin Galaxy are frauds, this was proven in King of Kong with them taking a VHS tape now confirmed to be Mame gameplay as fact. But the level of ridiculous work that the new owners of perfectpacman.com took is on a whole new level. I've never seen this type of work done for professional sports where all sorts of far more sketchy stuff has happened and stuff like bad referee calls & cheating have altered the results that have impacted fortunes. Shows how passionate gamers really are.

Edit: I went back and looked at the last expose and wow @ersatz_cats saved the best for last. The fact that Billy was permitted to have breaks during his perfect game via a AI flaw in Pac-Man's enemy AI really does effect my judgement of Billy even further. My only critique is that by being so lengthy and using Billy's old domain the author at first glance seems well fucking insane.

Twin Galaxies should host a new competition for the Fastest Perfect Pac-Man run and whichever autist wins that should replace Billy fully.

That's not how I would phrase it. He wasn't good enough to stay on top over a decade ago, which is why he started cheating. Since he can't compete with the best anymore, the only thing he has left is his legacy. The lawsuit isn't to get Twin Galaxies to accept new scores, it's to get them to retract their claims that he cheated, or barring that, befuddle a bunch of jurors who know diddly about Donkey Kong and get them to say that Twin Galaxies lied. He wants his old scores reinstated or recognized because the only time he'll ever be on top is in the past. Twin Galaxies can't really give him that, not in any honest way, so the best he can hope for is money and a disingenuous apology.
