This is the same country that still uses fax machines and insists everyone has a hanko. Especially anywhere that isn't a big city handwriting is still very common.If this is her own handwriting and not the artist's then I assume she went with her plan of learning how to write kanji. I remember her collab with Roberu where she mentioned she wanted to practice handwriting, a skill that is probably somewhat useless in modern Japan, besides school.
Some stuff is modernised sure but most job applications for example are still expected to be handwritten including your full resume. Supposedly it shows you're "committed"
TL - Our 60+ year old manager has always done it this way and we aren't going to question it or him
Luckily more companies being run by younger people are starting to appear and do online/accept typed things, but the majority I've seen are still definitely old school.
