High Guardian Spice - Tumblr: The CalArt Anime

An interview with Raye has been published and to no one's surprise, most of it is just her boasting how ~brave and stunning~ she is for having kwir characters and diversity in her show. Ugh.

Please kindly FUCK OFF.
Rate me MOTI, but I simply despise how all these woke hacks shit on older works for being ~too problematic uwu~ (look how much better my show is!!1!) but then have no problem obsessing over MLM (but not as those ~pesky fujos~ but as a transboi uwu), saying they're an "uke xDD" or just shamelessly ripping them off. I'm pretty sure those "#problematic" works have done so, so much more for the lgbt community and have inspired so much more people than your show ever will. Because they were certainly more fun than your show will ever be.

Western creators don't deserve anything, change my mind.

Transphobic doctor claims anime makes people trans, gets shut down by Twitter

Poor Barbara Goodson.
I fucking knew that side character in some clips I saw sounded familiar lmao. People usually hire her when they need someone that can do a funny cranky ass goblin creatura, evil witch, infernal screeching, kind old lady, or anime protag kinda voice. yeah that's a wild ass range of weirdly specific things, but Voice direction in this shits all over the place! it's kinda funny, really. You hear a bunch of kind weird low quality voice acting and then suddenly some background girl's got that kinda "professional voice actor good at doing specific types of voices" voice yet it's also one incredibly unfitting for the character design. Kinda has the same vibe as how there's a few recent animated series that have mark hamill in it just do the joker voice when he's actually got a decent range and could probably pull off the character he's hired to do an adaptation of.
Still good performances though, literally making the best with the shit they're given is what a lot of great voice actors excel in.
The fact that all these VAs could get away with such low quality work on this one makes it effectively a free check.
Studio Brinquedo having a lot of high quality and generally well known voice actors in it's "Confuse the parents with the DVD boxart" movies despite being notoriously shit is a good example of this.

The more recognizable VA's who worked on High Guardian Spice remind me of shit like Rapsittie Kids

"A fluffy show about girls being friends"... Sounds pretty boring
High Guardian Spice can't hold a candle to any of the greats in the "fluffy show about girls being friends" genre. No one will buy any waifu figures for this garbage. Maybe they should put less grooming kids into trooning out in this show.

Girls can't be friends with each other, they have to be lesbians with each other. Gawd, Raye, you can't even get your own continuity right.
It's 2005 fujoshi logic on female characters. If two people of the same sex have a deep friendship they must be gay. It's a really strange form of homophobia.

Anyway I watched the next two episodes because fuck you all. Episode two is another 23 minutes of nothing but girls talking to each other like witty Tumblr reblogs. It's episode three that's really worth talking about. The one called Transitions.

Yeah you know which one that is.

First off, Caraway (the trans character) is so blatant a creator self insert Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way is calling this dude out. This character is a trans man voiced by the creator of the show, who happens to be a trans man. What a coinky-dink. The way they describe being trans sounds like it's being explained to a child which makes me wonder who this cartoon is for. I would say fat Twitter enbies but they already know this shit. They shouldn't need an Explain Like I'm 5 version of being trans.

Aside from that, we meet Snapdragon (the femboy ginger) bitching to Caraway about how he gets bullied for being feminine and how he hates it because he wants to embrace being feminine. Instead of Caraway suggesting that Snapdragon tells these bullies to fuck themselves and just to be himself regardless of what others say, he preaches the gospel of trans to Snapdragon.

There's a few unfortunate implications.
1. You can be bullied into being trans.
2. You cannot be an effeminate man, you must be a trans woman and just not know it yet.

For being so against gender stereotypes, Twitter wokesters fucking love putting people in boxes based on gender stereotypes. If you're a man who enjoys needlepoint and frilly clothing, then be that. There's nothing wrong with that. Hell I'm not even against trans characters. I am against characters who feel less like humans and more like preachers and lecturers

I am not watching any more. It's not even funny bad. It's just pain.

Legit, if you want a "fluffy show about girls being friends which is code for they're actually gay for each other" show to watch, just go watch Aoi Hana. That series is what HGS wanted to be down to how "safe" everything feels and looks, but at least the characters have actual human interaction and emotion. I don't think the anime's anything special at all, if you ask me, but it's not a painful watch despite how slow it is.

The ginger femboy is just creepy when among his amazing reasons for wanting to be a girl were 'soft skin' and 'small hands'. Like who even notices that shit unless you're always touching girls or constantly staring at them like an obsessive stalker anyway? He also wants to be like some female role models he looks up to but anyone capable of original thought understands you can simply admire people without wanting to be them, and why can't he aspire to have traits he can share with them like ones to do with your character, not your body? There is no reasoning with these types, Raye herself shows they all have the mentality of children who want to be the character on the cereal box because it looks kinda cool and it's their favourite thing. Actual smoothbrain thinking.
