He was a knucklehead but I'm not happy to hear about it, it's kind of chilling, a guy who made his living from laughing at internet weirdness until internet weirdness fucked up his life to the point that he killed himself.
The internet really seems like it's become nothing but a toxic, destructive force in the world, the laughs and good times are over and now it seems like the interwebs is genuinely ushering in some kind of apocalypse, how did things get so fucked up? It's just another example of the steep, stark decline over these last 5 years.

When exactly did this go down?A slew of them joined at one point over (of all things) a Let's Play thread about Danganronpa, before it was translated and released in English. That led to them taking over the forum, becoming mods, and the state of the SA forums as they are today - a hellsite full of trannies that'll ban you for even the slightest missteps.
The way Danganronpa ties into this was that a lot of people who were on Tumblr at the time were following the thread, so Lowtax paywalled them out and made the subforum it was on only visible to those with accounts, so everyone had to pay $10 and join to keep reading it. So, they did, and tons and tons of them migrated into SA, slowly warping the forum and bending it their way.
Lowtax was a terrible administrator all along, and that all happened at a time when he was really burned out and barely running the forums at all. He was too busy wasting his money on luxuries like Goldbelly confections (look at their prices, just go look that shit up), a nice car, and lots and lots of ambien and whatever other drugs he could get ahold of.
