This post is in reference to a peculiar ask Lily received today.

Big ups for saying no, if this is genuine.
It concerns me this would cross the mind of anyone in Lily's sphere.

The reason I took so long to continue this was because this keeps being boring and I didn’t want to. Right now I don’t have better things to do and thus here we’re.

Chapter 17: Makes For An Angry Kitten

+Scotaloo wakes up. It’s her first day at school, which will be entirely irrelevant for anything going forward so you can forget about it now. She goes downstairs where the Pedophile and her Enabler are having breakfast.

+They ask Scootaloo how she slept, prompting Pedophile to make a comment about how once you get a girlfriend you don’t want to sleep alone and how lucky Scootaloo is that she has two girlfriends. In front of her girlfriend who we already established doesn’t want any polyamory. But it’s okay because Fluttershy found the comment funny.

+This exchange happen:

“Awesome!” Scootaloo began to happily eat her breakfast, “Aw man, you can even make eggs taste the best ever!”

Rainbow chuckled, “Yeah, Fluttershy’s the whole package. Sexy, smart, and a good cook. If I was a guy in the 50’s, I’d be king of the world.”

“I’d be one lucky kid!” Scootaloo drank down some orange juice, “Man, this is awesome! This is the life! I could die happy! ...Actually, I take that back. I still got life to live!”

“Yeah. I’d hate to have gone to all that trouble just for you to get hit by a semi-trailer on your way to school,” Rainbow laughed.

“I know, right?” Scootaloo ate some more eggs, “Aw man, the irony of that!”

Rainbow chuckled, while Fluttershy looked uncomfortable.

“Rainbow… not that I don’t think you guys are funny… but could we not talk about the possibility of Scootaloo dying? It’s a little… unsettling,” she said softly.

“...Oh,” Rainbow then recalled the context of that and recoiled, “Yeah, sorry about that.”

“Me too,” Scootaloo murmured, “I guess it’s not that funny, is it? I mean, I could laugh at myself about that, but if I were to make that joke about my friends, I’d… feel pretty awful.”

+Fluttershy thanks them for apoligizing after making their unfunny distateful jokes and they all have a big family hug. Scootaloo comments she’d like to have a brother or sister which makes Pedophile to ask Enabler how long have been long together. Enabler takes this to talk since the day they “became lovers” in front of her daughter and this causes Pedophile to run from the kitchen.

+When Pedophile is back she has a ring and proposes marriage. Enabler accepts. Everyone’s happy about this and they hug.

+Scootaloo goes to school.

+Pedophile and Enabler talk a bit about how “they’re not like other couples” because they had a kid before marriage, which really isn’t that big of a deal nowadays or even when this was written. Then Pedophile asks Enabler if she has tested for pregnancy, and Enabler tells her that she’ll go to the doctor that day to see because pregnancy home test don’t exist on Equestria apparently.

+They talk about even if Enabler wasn’t pregnant they could try again, but Pedophile says “but not right now”. At first I thought that Pedophile didn’t want children right now but it was just a pick up line to fuck and, for the first time since reading this, Pedophile doesn’t take the chance despite how she doesn’t have to go to work and Enabler either because instead they have to talk about Twilight and Ascentia.

+Enabler talked with Twilight at some point after Twilight talked with Josh Scorcher and she told Enabler that she didn’t want to be abusive anymore. Pedophile mentions that she saw Ascentia and for “the first time” saw her without any visible injuries. That’s doing so much better according to these two.

+But then they contradict themselves on the next parragraph because they don’t really know how Ascentia’s reaction to her wife not wanting to rape her anymore. Pedophile asks “I know Twilight wants to turn herself around, but the question is will Ascentia let her?”, which is stupid because domestic abuse doesn’t depend on the victim wanting it to continue or not. That’s why is abuse.

+Enabler says that Ascentia is “fiercely loyal” to Twilight and “takes her marriage seriously”, implying that victim of abuse who abandon their abusers take their marriage less seriously. Pedophile comments that she could never be with someone who raped her repeatedly and ponder what makes Ascentia so especial to endure it all. “That takes… is it resilience, compassion, or a death wish that takes?”

+Only now Pedophile wonders if Ascentia was maybe lying about liking the abuse and the sadomasochism, because she’s that stupid. Enabler admits that also only now she started thinking it too, making it obvious they’re both stupid and deserve each other.

+Pedophile wants to know how Ascentia was on the hospital. She was asking if Twilight was okay. Pedophile is “bewildered” about this. Enabler keeps insisting that Ascentia is too loyal to Twilight and her rings means too much for her to even thought about leaving her wife, implying again that’s survivors who escape abuser are less loyal.

+Pedophile points out that sounds like a battered wife and Enabler goes on a little rant about marriage, forgiveness and ends it on how she finds their whole situation “interesting”. She finds the constant raping and physical abuse of one of her friends at the hands of another of her friends, who the victim refuses to leave, interesting. Enabler’s a psychopath.

+They keep talking about this, repeating points and going nowhere until finally Ascentia appears at their door.

+They asks Ascentia how she’s doing now that Twilight’s going to therapy. Ascentia doesn’t know if it’s really helping Twilight because she always comes back home crying. In fact, she thinks the shrinks’s only torturing her making her remember things Twilight doesn’t want, like how she made Ascentia’s scars, something she apparently never cared about before. This makes her an angry kitten, title dropped.

+Enabler tells her to be supportive of her rapist getting therapy at last. Ascentia talks about how now everyone knows (even though they already did before) and keep pestering her about it. She almost throw down a grandma on the supermarket for daring to suggest her a divorce lawyer. If Rarity wasn’t there to stop there then she’d have fought or worse to that grandma on the supermarket. I don’t know what to do or think about that. It’s not funny. It’s not making me sympathize with Ascentia. It’s not relevant. I don’t know why we treat Ascentia being a violent monster as a not a big deal. Although, now that I think about it, that’s exactly how we treat Twilight being a rapist or Pedophile being a pedophile so it’s just more unadressed shit that Liliana somehow makes sound mundane and boring.

+Enabler tries to reason with Ascentia, but she only complains about how Twilight going to therapy and trying to get her on some “scar concealer” is too much change for her to handle and doesn’t like it. Then she complains again about some guard who told her it was awful that Princess Twilight raped and abuser her wife, which made Ascentia want to inflict violence on him too but didn’t, I guess because she wasn’t an old lady or something.

+Enabler still tries to be nice by saying that Ascentia has a right to her privacy, which she didn’t had before anyway because Twilight had already been arrested multiple times anyway, but now Ascentia notices they want to ask her something. At first Enabler and Pedophile don’t want tos ay anything because Ascentia obviously doesn’t want to hear it, but Ascentia wants to hear it.

“Oh, fine,” Rainbow grumbled, leaning back a bit, “I gotta ask. How do you do that? How do you stay with a woman who, despite loving you and not being the slightest bit evil, beats you and rapes you on multiple occasions? No, I’m not saying that with any kinda mean streak, I really do want to know. We both do.”

+Ascentia then tells them the story of how Twilight came to the nickname kitten for her. One day Ascentia was on the library and Twilight wanted to fuck, but Ascentia said so and Twilight raped her for the first time. She called her an “uncoperative kitten” during it. After that Ascentia heard Twilight crying so went to sleep with her on bed and the next day Twilight kept calling her kitten, apparently without remembering the rape. Ascentia explains that everytime Twilight calls her like that, she takes it as an apology for all the other raping that happened after and thus forgives her.

+This is a nice start to the trend of Liliana writing abuse victim forgiving their abusers just because they felt bad enough. Not even an actual apology needed. Just feel bad and that’s all everyone needs.

+The narration’s also stupid: “As endearing as it sounded, there was the clear discomfort from what she was saying.” There’s nothing endearing about this.

+Pedophile calls Ascentia “the smartest girl I know” and tells her how “you always talk about things I never heard about”, which literally never happened because Liliana wrote Ascentia as just a brute, so Pedophile wants to be direct with her. When Ascentia says “go on”, Pedophiles tells her to drop the masochist act and Ascentia admits she doesn’t like rough sex but not the raping or broken bones.

+Then Pedophile explodes:

“And that’s what I’m talking about!” Rainbow slapped her fist onto the table and stood up, “Look at you! You’re a battered housewife! You’re no different than other men or women who cling to their partners despite the abuse! You hold on to the good things you both do as some kind of sign that it’s not all bad! And what you’re telling me here is ‘I hate this, I wish it would stop!’ Oh yeah, that’s encouraging! That’s great to hear! Happy happy joy joy! Golly gosh, this is so awesome, I can’t contain it! Wow! Are you listening to yourself?! Now I’m starting to see why Twi wants help! This is just crazy! And you’re just… gonna stop her from it? You want her to stop? Well, did you not hear yourself just now? You want to snuggle, right? Well, why don’t you help Twilight get AWAY from the abuse?! Nope! You just sit back and enable her! Oh, it’s fine, she needs to relieve stress!

“Relieve stress, my dick! That’s the biggest load of crap I think I ever heard! She rapes you! Beats you! And now she’s trying to get help, I say good for her! Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she decided to leave you to protect you and herself! Oh, fuck no, don’t you give me that look! ‘She’s my wife, I’m not leaving her and nor is she!’, right? Well, lovely! That’s a nice thought! Quit the damn battered housewife whining and just look at yourself for a minute! You’re looking at her with rose-coloured glasses! Something you pretty much say is stupid for ANYONE to have!”

I could tell you all the ways in which this speech’s disgusting and wrong from a narrative stand point, but I’m assuming I don’t need to.

+Ascentia comments that nobody ever told her something like that, because nobody ever thought of blaming the victim, and this makes the Pedophile ashamed of herself. But then Ascentia rebuts that she’s wrong because she doesn’t view things through a rose coloured glass. She knows there’s a problema with her wife raping her and breaking her bones, but will stick with her because marriage. She also throws a little threats to Pedophile if she ever calls Twilight crazy. When Pedophile clarifies that she thinks Twilight’s doing the right thing, Ascentia comments that she’s the last person to talk about someone being fucked in the head and Pedophile goes on another rant:

“Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?! Oh, so because I’m a pedofork and am soooo messed up, I got no place to say anything?! Well, thanks a lot! Thanks for shutting down something I have to say just because I’m not exactly ‘normal’! May as well tell me it’s because I’m hormonal or on PMS! FYI, I never said Twilight was crazy just now! I said the situation was crazy! Well, fine! Go ahead! Boomerang this! Shut down what I have to say because you don’t like hearing it! Turn it riiiight back to me so that I can be ashamed! Gee, thanks! You know what, forget it! You do what you want! I don’t even care anymore! I’m going to work!”

There’s again, that tendency of minimizing what pedophilia actually is. First it was treated as normal because Pedophile’s full of too many masculine hormones, implying all men secretly want to rape little girls, but now it’s compared with the menstrual cycle of women.

+To be fair, if I started being yelled at by a Pedophile about anything at all I’d be pissed off too. But as soon Pedophile runs off, Ascentia wants to apologize because she made the pedophile feel bad about being a pedophile that wants to rape little girls.

+Enabler apoligizes for the situation. Ascentia tells her that it’s fine since at least Enabler understands, since she’s on her same position. Enabler becomes offended at this because she’d leave Pedophile if she ever raped her or abused her so it can’t be the same. But Ascentia notices that they both have shitty wives and yet, despite knowing Pedophile is a pedophile, Enabler stayed.

+Enabler responds that Pedophile’s NOT a pedophile because she “lust for teenagers, nothing else” and doesn’t love them. Plus, she knows that Pedophile’d never hurt anyone and is not a bad person. She’s getting help! Enabler doesn’t think either that Twilight, the rapist, the abuser, has any bad intentions or would hurt anyone, and that’s why she’s Enabler.

+Ascentia then says she doesn’t understand why everyone tries to take her rapist away from her. She sniffles and keeps rubbing her eyes, but there’s no mentions of any tears so this feels so very fake to me. I doubt that was the intention. It would be one interesting twist if Ascentia had manipulated everyone this entire time and she was actually the one abusing Twilight somehow, but then again, that would be interesting and we can’t have that on this story. Liliana just sucks trying to convey any emotion at all.

+Enablers tells her everything will be fine. They hug. Then Ascentia cries and Enabler thinks Ascentia scares her but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t help her. This still feels fake. Ascentia asks Enabler to tell Pedophile that’s sorry and adds “nobody has seen me cry before”. Then she mentions that Apple Bloom told her that she was scary, something that Enabler lies by saying that she was scary at first, when they met on highschool, but doesn’t anymore because now she sees that she’s nice.

+Because apparently now Ascentia needs the ego stroking, she wants to know if Enabler thinks she’ll be a good mother and Enabler lies again assuring that she knows Ascentia’ll try her best. Trying your best it’s for when you want to paint for the first time, not when raising a baby with a rapist and a brute.

+Ascentia then talks about how she and her rapist talked about selling their story to make money, but Enabler has finished indulging her because she has to go to the doctor. When Ascentia goes away, Enabler says outloud that the crazy one’s Ascentia.

+Time passes. I assume. I don’t know what Pedophile was doing while she wasn’t working (Liliana probably forgot about it), but now she’s bringing her daughter back home and Scootaloo’s so happy retelling about how Apple Bloom verbally smacked down some homophobic boy. Is Liliana aware that there are other ways to being evil than being homophobic? I’m not sure. All her characters are disgusting evil pieces of shit but at least they aren’t homophobic so I guess that makes them okay on her own standards.

+Scootaloo then goes off to shower and Pedophile finds Enabler on the living room with the weirdest description of anyone’s face I have seen in a while: “her face flitting back and forth between elated and worried like some bunghole was flicking a light switch back and forth in her brain.” This reads to me like she’s having a stroke.

+Enabler asks Pedophile to sit down. She’s pregnant. They get excited and excitedly they kiss because they’re so excited and yes, the narration’s repetitive like that. Scootaloo comes in to find out about the good news. Then she moonwalks in place because she’s so happy, exactly as all teens do when finding out they’re going to have a sibling.

+This exchange gave me a headache:

“Oh Scootaloo,” Fluttershy kissed her hair, “This is a good thing, you’ll be able to help us out with the baby, then.”

“You know it! I’ll teach her to walk, talk, all the awesome cool stuff… where’s my iPod? They say that having babies listen to music makes them smart!” Scootaloo wiggled with excitement, “...Oh, wait. You’re gonna make me change diapers, aren’t you?”

“Oh the evil and cruel things I’m going to do to you,” Rainbow grinned, to unnerved looks from both Scootaloo and Fluttershy, “Oh shut up, you know what I mean!”

“Yeah, sorry…” Scootaloo patted her arm, “Seriously though, yuck! I am not changing diapers!”

Having a mom who’s a pedophile that has confessed to have a preference for girls your exact age is so fun! But if you stop to make it weird that’s your fault and need to apologize to the Pedophile.

+Scootaloo goes upstairs. Enabler and Pedophile talk about when Enabler was a kid and she didn’t want to change diapers of her younger relatives either. There’s more dialogue nobody cares about. Then they talk about the doctor and how she calculated that Enabler has been pregnant since the first time they were together.

+Pedophile then pivots the issue about how hard it will be to keep fucking with a baby around, which ends up on the both of them fetishizing pregnancy, to the point that the Horny Voice of Pedophile furiously agrees that pregnant Pedophile would be hot and Pedophile has no reaction to it. It’s just a sentence with no context whatsoever. Her intervention was so jarring and out of nowhere that for a second I didn’t know what happened.

+They talk a bit about them becoming mothers and in other story, with other characters, from another writer, this could have been a actually sweet little moment. But Pedophile ruins it as always asking Enabler to help her with “this” (her erection) and then Enabler does a titjob on her. They add some dirty talk but it’s the same boring thing since the first chapter, so I don’t think anyone’s going to miss anything if we skipped.

+As soon as Pedophile finishes, Twilight’s banging on their door. She’s there with Ascentia to force her to apoligize for threatening Pedophile and calling Enabler fucked up in the head. Twilight’s being physically forceful and abusive again, but Pedophile and Enabler close the door on them not because Twilight’s failing but because Ascentia “doesn’t mean it.” She did said to Enabler that she was sorry already. Why does she need to apoligize again?

+On any case, since this didn’t worked, Twilight’s so frustrated and mad that she kicked a trash. I’m assuming that Pedophile’s trash can, which means that now either she or Enabler’ll have to clean a bunch of garbage and/or buy a new one if it ended up ruined. I guess this’s meant to be taken as some kind progress that Twilight decides to kick something that isn’t Ascentia and yells at her to be on her room like she was her teen daughter, just so Twilight has time to calm herself. But she’s still yelling and being aggresive around her so I don’t read it like that.

Next Chapter: Attached At The Hip Much?

Mikay is over-sharing again.

- The only pic she took of the trip was the computer Lily built her from scraps.

-constantly making self-deprecating remarks about how stupid she is.

-She’s happy to just be doing things for Lily. Make her coffee, breakfast. Washing the dishes. Cleaning the home.

-My speculation was right and she isn’t transitioned on paper having to use her dead name Dmitri for the wedding.

-This is the first time she met Lily’s parents and went to their home in Lower Sackville for Halloween. She says they were respectful enough but Lily had to ‘deal with them’ sometimes. Whatever that means.

TBH, posting this after seeing her marriage video breaks my heart... I feel legitimately bad for Mikaila.

No. No no no. NO!!
If this happens I'm calling the fucking authorities on her
The fact is a third party the one talking about how weird it's the dynamic between Mikaila and Liliana what really concerns me. For it to be so bad that Cypher would notice it from the outside it has to be a million times worse from the inside. I can't believe either that she was the only one to see something is off, but that she being the only one to speak about it makes everyone on their circle look on a worse light. Even people that called themselves Lizzy's friend were ever so quick to throw her under the bus the moment Liliana had decided to do so. Cypher did the right thing coming out of that group.

Besides that, these two haven't lived together not even for a month and want to adopt an animal together? It's not even the fear of abusing it, it's the absolute negligence that creature is going to live with because does anyone here can believe that Liliana's going to spend any amount of time training it? Taking it to walks regularly? To the vet when something goes wrong? Bathing it? Being patient and understanding when the dog inevitably chews, pees or shit on something important?

If you want something cute to pet get a fucking toy. A live animal's too big of a responsability for these two.

I suspect the puppy prospect is another "anchor" to not-at-all subtlely push Mikaila to move Canada. It's harder to leave your abuser when you're in another country, and Mikaila was able to take the other anchor (the "new" computer) back with her.

And like @Son Goku Baku said, it's scary to think that no one sees how evil Lily is, and concerning that a third party has to point it out.

I wonder if the last conversation Cypher mentions she had with Mikaila was about it being okay to leave Lily, or how Lily's actions are worrying.

Didn't Lily say Cypher was harassing Mikaila? That sounds like the kind of conversation Lily would see as "harassment"...

I understand it more as her saying that Cypher tried to harass Lily trough Mikaila. Or at least she believes this was Cyphers intention.

''How dare you say to my wife that I might treat her like I treated 90% of all people in my life!''
Although, I don't believe Lily would be so quick to dispose of her wife. She didn't let go of Lizzy that easily either.

Respect to Cypher for not sharing private conversation of Mikaila! Based on the scarce info that we have I'd her last words to Mikaila might been one of support in case things with Lily might get sour. Letting her know that Cypher still considers her a friend and is available if she'd ever need help.

Just as a reminder, her parents were apparently abusive monsters who had her locked up for the crime of 'defending herself' against them (according to one of her multple-choice backstory options, anyway).

Lily still went to a family reunion with her mother (and was reliant on her as the driver, as Lily cannot drive), and apparently thought it was important to introduce her spouse to them.

I suspect her claims of 'abuse' might have been mildly exaggerated.

"telling her that I'm going to drop her the moment she becomes inconvenient", "trying to gaslight my wife"...
I like to think Cypher told Mikaila one or two things about Lily that everyone else is thinking but no one has the guts to tell her before offering support in case things went south. We might never know, but I would pay to read that conversation that Lily deemed harassment and gaslighting. If nothing else, at least to see what registers as harassment and gaslighting to her.

ooh god if a puppy is being brought into all of this...
dogs are a huuuge responcability. Not just dogs, all breeds need their own requerments.

Big breeds/ gurad dogs
Dont get big dogs in a small apartment like hers. they can be destructive and depressed in small spaces. Dont get a huskies if you can't go on hours upon hours worth of walks or don't have a huge yard for them to play in all day. they'll be to energetic, bouncy, wound up and so on and actually depresses the dog. Don't get any guard dogs, because not only are they extremely territorial (yes even against an owner's own partner if not trained well enough) but especially a live stock breed like a pyrenean mountain dog, because its in their nature to be alert at night, bark and be awake, and alert during the night so walking all about the place guarding its territory (aka you/the home), and again needs big open spaces to play and act like a dog during the day time.

Smaller breeds
Even smaller breeds that could live in lily's apartment (which I'm guessing is small from the odd picture we've seen) need special treatment. Pugs, french bulldogs and other flatter muzzle breeds are expensive because of vet care bills. because, breathing issues. Chihuahua's are just little demons so i just wouldn't suggest anyone getting one unless you don't coddle and baby it like most chihuahua owners do. Yorkshire terriers and jack rustles are natural ratters. so that might help with lily's mouse problem if she has the stomach to see dead mice around the place (i doubt as she 'felt bad' seeing a dead one a while ago). Westies might be ok but again they are known to have some heart condition issues later in life so they are a bit expensive too if unlucky with that. Hell even cute breeds like corgis, despite their size, needs LOADS of room to run, as they were once used to herd cattle. they're hardy dogs for sure but they need their big place to runaround and a good owner who can keep routine with them. also likely to be lively in early mornings as this is when farmers typically bring in their cows for milking, so if your not an early bird....

Costs and others
It's not only that but- can you afford vet bills? lily always complains about money being an issue and i doubt vet bills are cheep where she lives.
Can she train a dog to not be a little bitch during nail clipping/furr clipping? Hell is she even aware that some long furred dogs NEVER should be clipped because that's how they regulate body heat both in the cold/warm. Ironically, a shaved long haired Husky can die of sunstroke if shaved.
Can she train a dog to only poop and piss outside and not all over the house, or atleast train it on disposable puppy('nappy') mats?
Can she afford better quality dog food, because the cheapest on the market, just like human food, can be unhealthy for them, cause obesisty faster and may not be nutritionally well for a dog.
Can she walk the dog daily, train it, tell it no if it does wrong, aware of the diatry and bathing needs of said specific breed(s if cross breed), because each breed is unique.
Does she have enough money to get it microchipped in case the dog is lost or stolen AND enough money to get it neutered in case of unwanted litters?
...GOD fucking forbid if lily has to deal with newborn puppies.

Research
Something lily's bad at but is crucial for first time dog owners.
Research into the specific breed you want. will if fit your lifestyle. What is the history of the breed, the nature and temperament of it. are they an excitable breed not suitable for your laidback lifestyle, or is the breed known for health conditions and may be to expensive for you to handle. Are they a noisy breed that may get you in trouble if you live in an apartment complex? Are they a breed known to have issues when pregnant (i.e chihuahuas are prone to not being able to give birth well and need cesarean sections, they ain't cheap i'm telling ya).How long should their walks be, any dietary needs. Hell, dogs can have food aversions and allergies too. Are they a nighttime or daytime breed? Is it a breed that can adapt easily to a person's specific lifestyle (this is why golden retrievers are a popular family dog). Is your house dogproof and safe, i.e no littered with crap everywhere, wires are hidden away so a dog doesn't chew then and fry itself or gettangled up and choked.does your apartment complex have rules against specific breeds or all pets. Do you have the patient t even train a dog...

my own thoughts/experiences as a dog owner.
Sorry for the dog sperging but to power level a bit here- I'm a dog owner. i love dogs, and there are many breeds i wish i can own but can't because my lifestyle doesn't suit their needs. It's crucial to get a dog that fits within your lifestyle, not for you to forcefully mould a lifestyle around- because dogs fall into habit sooner than humans do. Also, one of my dogs happened to be (early staged) pregnant when i bought her and the owner didn'ttell me about it. And dealing with a litter of newborn pups, aswell as the mother is hard. You don't sleep as much as the mother does checking the pups, having to hand bottle one every hour or two. making sure mother is well fed (extra than normal) to keep her body weight up aswell as giving her enough to feed the pups. specific diatry feed for the mother, special dog milk to feed the mother too. A head lamp/pad for the mother to keep warm, and special box here pups cant just fall over onto cold floors. puppies are expensive, but having to co parent a litter with a mother is even more expensive. it's tiering for both owner and dog. Then she has to rehome the puppies somehow.
And at least where i am, a dog should legally only have one litter a year. anymore is just to much stress and strain on a dog.
Trust me getting your dog's bitch chopped off now is a lot cheaper than having to deal with puppies and the potential of them dying on you because you have no idea wtf you're doing. I'm lucky to be in a position where i know my stuff.
I've also researched a lot into different breeds too so i kinda know a bit more than the average person (aka lily) about dogs. so depending on the breed she gets, I'll know my stuff about them.

i could go on and on about specific breeds, each of their specific needs, hell i could even math make lily up with a breed she contacts me (lmao), but on a serious note. dogs are a big responsibility. and if her slice of life comics that are totally self-inserts tell me anything.... It's just, having a pet do 'bad things' because it looks cute, may be cute in a comic but is NOT a reality(I'm on about bonnie, i know is a child but if you cant luck after a dog you sure as fuck have no patience for a child). dogs grow, can get bitier if left unchecked and this is how a dog get unnecessarily destroyed, by shitty owners who don't know how to respect and discipline their animal correctly.

my own dogs
each of my dogs has their own dietary needs, time for exercise and play, and hell, own demeanours. Even the same breed can have different personalities, wants and needs. outside of their breed's nature.
i.e one of my chihuahuas never yaps sits on your lap and is practically a living plush with how calm and quiet he is, never an issue. Another one is a roughouser but never injures any of the other dogs, myself, and never rips or breaks any of my property because i trained her to never damage but i didn't train her personality out of her.
Hell, rescues are even harder because you don't know a dog's history 9/ out of 10. i got a rescue who after the worst kind of neglect you can see in a dog, because of this was on a specific diet, has a hard time with people was also a bait dog- don't research if you don't have the heart for dog fighting and that culture. took months to crack her, to make her feel comfortable and make her realise i wouldn't hurt her like her previous owners did. months. she cant be around big dogs but smaller breeds are fine.

Again sorry for the dog sperging and power levelling a tiiiiny bit here but i just love dogs and am an owner of a few different breeds, and knowledgeable on atleast the common breeds in my country, but am aware of common dog breeds people get in canada/usa too, so if they decide to get one, i might be extra hard on her than normal.

Mikaila has made a post before (I can't find it, but I think its 5 months old at this point, but I could be wrong my sense of time is shit lmao) where she specifically said she and Lily are going to adopt a pit bull. Probably a rescue pit bull at that. So I can't wait to see how fast that shit goes down the drain.

Honestly they should just get a cat, it'd work for both of them since they don't need to walk it, cats generally tend to stick to themselves, they shit in a box, are good apartment pets, and still provide emotional support and a fuzzy friend to cuddle. Cats still have requirements and needs that should be fulfilled (such as playtime, proper bonding, and general care) but they're far easier to own than dogs, especially if that cat is a normal (doesn't need medical attention/special needs) animal.

Visual inconsistencies are literal inconsistencies within the universe of a film. To a trained eye they become distracting.
People who focus on these things aren't downplaying the writing they're just talking about what they liked or what bothered them.

As someone who's watched movies with art students, I'll be the first to admit that focusing solely on visuals when it comes to the quality of a film isn't in good form. So many movies just film endless action and explosions and the characters are unrendered skeletons of what characters are. It's not a bold stance to say that characters and story should matter over lore and visuals. Hell that's one of the things that's gone awry with the Souls games actually. They focused too much on fanservice, spectacle, and vague visual motifs, eventually anything inspired about the story faded away as dragons and fan favorite characters kept reappearing.

Apart from that, I feel it's too broad to say just writing is the most important. What aspects of writing make something successful?
A movie can have weak or uninteresting characters but incredible pacing, and the characters or actors could have great chemistry. For instance Tangled is a great movie because the characters are likable and fun to watch. Alien is a great horror movie because the tone and art design go hand in hand to make the audience feel uncomfortable.
I feel it's too simple to say writing is the most important. Writing is important for helping us connect with a movie, to feel for the characters and be interested in a story. However by that same token if the visuals are flat, or convey the wrong tone, or clash with what's supposed to be happening, then the writing will suffer as well.

Eta: a good example came to me: Star Trek. Star Trek has almost always had subpar visuals, but the writing and legitimate science fiction ideas have almost always been very strong. In recent years the series leaned on action and visuals to carry the weight and has failed spectacularly. Does this prove Lily right? Maybe.

I complete agree, but I don't think a film or story being based around the art is a bad thing. I said it in my original Bambi rant which I will bring up time and time again because Lily doesn't understand the purpose of art just being art, even in a film.

TLDR: Essentially a good story doesn't need good visuals to carry it and vice versa. Good art doesn't need writing to carry it either. Other wise art museums wouldn't exist. We would have no need to look at anatomy studies done by the masters, we wouldn't need to have Bambi, we wouldn't need to have visual mediums. But we do, because people enjoy it for what it is, and it may not be for everyone but that's ok, it doesn't have to be.
-Walt Disney liked to spend too much time waffling around and didn't care about storytelling.

Yes if you are a child or someone who doesn't really care about animation/non-verbal story telling then the movie will seem pretty dull. But if that's the case the movie isn't for you, its for people who will watch it and see the deer prancing along to the music with all the amazing background paintings and think 'wow that's beautiful' because that's what Walt was trying to pull off. The story may seem barebones but what story are they supposed to tell? Its a movie about a deer who becomes the leader of his herd through birthright and is very accurate to the way a deer would grow up/live in the forest. Its not the lion king, its not re-written Shakespeare, its just Bambi. The waffling was the point of the movie, its an art film based solely around how good the animation looks. 'Walt Disney didn't care about storytelling' will always infuriate me. She forgets the biggest part of the Disney brand when she says that. ANIMATION. The story isn't some epic that goes on for three hours its a beautifully animated piece with amazing art and amazing detail because that's the point of Bambi.

This is where Lily's argument of 'a good story doesn't need good art' falls flat. because yes while good stories can carry shitty art, amazing art shouldn't need a story to carry it. By saying that every piece of art needs a plot line completely destroys the concept of art as a medium. Art is the reflection of reality, it doesn't need to be deep, it doesn't need to be a 300 page book, sometimes it can just be deer prancing around in a forest for 2 hours. There's a reason why Bambi 2 is shit and its because it focused way too much on the plot elements when that was never the purpose of Bambi in the first place.

TLDR: Lily said Bambi sucks because its focused on the art too much despite it being an art film.

Yo, pro storyboarder, care to share your portfolio with us? All I can find of you is FNAF fanart.
hhhhhhh.png

Ah, nevermind then. Do your thing and have fun drawing!

I just feel like this is something Lily would exaggerate in order for her opinion to seem more relevant. ''This professional working in the industry said so.''

Her arguments are all over the place and I have a hard time figuring out what she wants to say with this. She kinda jumps between visual art in general, visual effects and story boarding, which are different processes.
When it comes to visual effects, whether practical or computer generated, the issue that people most often have with it isn't necessary the quality of the effects, but the movies over-reliance on them.
That said, visual effects come in all kinds of form and purposes, she's generalizing them big time.

Next thing, visual art is a form of communication. Something Lily isn't very familiar with.
You communicate something to the audience that you can't say with words, you establish characters, an environment the characters find themselves in, you set the mood with visuals.
Lets use David Fincher movies for examples. One of the most memorable visuals from Fight club for me was Marlas introduction scene, not just because of the sexy smoking (indicating the MC's attraction towards her) but just of the fucked up context of the scene. The lady lights up a cigarette at a lung cancer survivors meeting. That alone says a lot about the character herself before she (or the narrator) has ever spoken a word yet. Then we find out that she's there for the exact same reason the MC is, meaning she deals with the same feelings he is.
A nifty little trick that Fincher uses to establish a aerie mood in Panic Room is how he mixed CGI effects with camera. Basically that he did was recreate the interior of the house in CGI, and then pans the camera trough the furniture. Giving the pan a very unnerving, unnatural atmosphere in such a subtle way you don't even notice it. *chef's kiss*

The key to storyboarding, especially in animation, is CAMERA WORK and CHARACTER POSING. It's to establish THE FEEL of the end product. Look, here is a reference to this, some more, and then some more.
The visuals are not a substitude for writing, nor is it inferior - they complement each other.

Here is where I'm confused over what Lily considers writing in animation. She seems to put an inordinary amount of importance on dialogue. But what would constitude as writing for her, in a movie without dialogue? Would she still consider visuals as storytelling? Because then she'd have to admit that stories can be told also in other ways than writing...
Didn't she say that the first ten minutes of Up are the best part of the movie? That would indicate that she understands visual cues, but then again she invalidates the legitimacy of Ruby and Saphire's relationship, despite them marrying on screen, because they didn't audibly say they're lesbians (although Carl and Millie marry that way too..).

Given how medicore a writer she is, her opinions regarding writing don't really hold water.

Didn't she say in a recent stream that some friend stole her laptop and pretended to be Tara?
So Tara is a friend now...
I can't wait for the day she'll start to say that a friend stole her computer and wrote Stockholm.

Pfft, I'm sure High Guardian Spice will fester in her head for a while longer, this ain't the end of it. No, I'm not in denial..

Frankly, I'm astounded. I would've thought Lily would be all over this fucking show, but instead it's too boring for even her. If only it had more Kingdom Hearts fights where everyone is doing backflips and running up buildings....

You know how a lot of people like to taut the 'Go woke, go broke' attitude? That so many franchises attempts to pander to progressives backfire because of the belief that progressives don't actually care about this franchise? They don't actually want to read comic books, they just don't like that female characters are being sexualized within them and would sleep better at night knowing that this thing they don't actually care about isn't being problematic.

Yeah, HGS is not doing a good job of proving that wrong. It's an anime made for people who want more diversity in anime, which doesn't appear to be an audience that exists because this show *has* no audience.

You remember how somebody recommended HGS to Lily based on the fact that it follows most of her writing tips?

Makes you think.

Stuck Pooh already covered a lot of this, so I just want to emphasize that the red flag in here is that the person is complaining about people who over-emphasize visuals... when storyboarding actually has very little to do with final, rendered artwork.

Storyboarding is about figuring out camera work, posing, and scene pacing. If you look at a lot of storyboards they tend to be very sketchy, sometimes to the point of just having a loosely-labeled blob of lines to indicate a particular character's position, because the whole point is to visually map out how a scene is staged rather than how it's going to be rendered. Notably, storyboards aren't the exclusive purview of animation, either; a lot of live-action movies utilize storyboards to pre-determine the best framing and positioning for the live actors, saving you the ordeal of having to adjust angles and positioning on the fly. It's much easier to drew a few thumbnails trying to work out the best framing of a scene than to look at the footage and say "Actually I think this shot would be better if John Doe was over HERE instead."

A storyboarder would know that one of the most significant parts of their job lies in that-- camera framing, cinematography instructions, pacing. All very integral parts of visual storytelling that can be very well to help convey the narrative-- or done very badly and actually contribute to breaking it. Since we're vaguely talking about High Guardian Spice, I mentioned before that a lot of the clips posted here or just around the internet really show off WHY storyboarding is so important; the shots are oftentimes static, the staging is mundane, the pacing is atrocious, the visual communication messy or outright botched. That's not the fault of the animators in Korea; that's the fault of bad storyboarding.

For somebody to say 'I do storyboarding and it pisses me off when people talk about the art' is such an insane attempt to establish their credentials that anybody with a little knowledge of how production works would know they're either talking out of their ass, or maliciously using their 'credentials' to manipulate the opinions of people who don't know any better.

Thanks for bringing this up, too. It's really important to recognize that when Lily talks about 'good writing', she is talking exclusively about dialogue. Lily considers herself a 'good writer' because she's good at dialogue [citation needed], but you give a passing glance at any of her fanfiction and you can see how atrocious her prose is.

This is probably why she focuses on cartoons rather than written works, honestly. The visuals of a cartoon are the equivalent to the prose of a book; that is, an integral part of scene-setting and delivery. But for Lily it's less important than the words being exchanged between characters, even though prose is just as malleable, subtle, and powerful as visual storytelling. In the obvious sense, not every scene is going to have characters talking and the prose is what fills in what they're doing, or the nature of the land they're in, or how they're thinking or emoting. You should never be in a position where your dialogue is, say...

Ready Player One said:
"It looks like Rivendell."

I nodded. "It looks exactly like Rivendell from the Lord of the Rings movies."

And sometimes you just pick up a Ray Bradbury novel and bask in some beautiful, poetic prose, because it's part of the experience. Same with watching a beautiful movie; you don't watch Spirited Away because of its amazing dialogue and plot, its story and emotions are carried heavily by its visuals.

That's just the obvious thing, too. Novels with well-written twists or duplicitous characters will oftentimes seed careful use of language into the prose-- double meanings, specific dialogue tags, careful sentence construction, an emphasis on expression rather than dialogue. Subtle things that can only be conveyed in prose, or subtle ways that the prose is used to draw attention, or repeating motifs within the prose that subtly draw the eye of the reader. You can do the same in a visual medium, seeding background detail or careful use of body language and expression in order to convey more meaning than you would get just out of dialogue.

The most recent episode of Helluva Boss is a visual feast during the House of Asmodeus song, from the way the main characters respond to the jibes to the end, where Asmodeus (the personification of lust, who just spent five minutes singing about how dumb the concept of love is) subtly comforts and nuzzles his imp in a clear expression that maybe his focus on lust over love is a bit hypocritical. But if you just listened to the surface-level dialogue, you'd never get that, and it certainly wouldn't work as well.

It's been suggested (by me, and others) that this is probably linked to her autism-- things must be spelled out, they MUST be explained, they MUST be directly communicated because background subtlety is simply, developmentally lost on her. Which I understand, on that level, but then you combine this with her self-centered insistence that everything she says and demands is right and you get somebody who refuses to accept on any level that hey, maybe things are done the way they are for a reason, even if I can't fully appreciate that reason.

But no. Lily thinks the epitome of good writing is the quippy one-liner exchanges of sitcoms and that if you can't communicate the ideas entirely by explaining them to other people or using extremely simple visual gags (ala Family Guy) it's BAD WRITING.
