I never really was a fan of Coco's schtick - being edgy because she *gasp* swears and talks about lewd stuff! Maybe I'm too much of a boomer, but that does nothing for me and in fact just gets grating after a while when that's all you bring to the table. So innovative! As I said before, pretty much the same reason I don't really watch or like Kiara or Calli, because it seems like they slip into that category a lot of the time too (ok maybe not the lewd stuff with Calli, at least she stays away from that trap and has been improving in general the past few months). So the pedestal Coco gets put on as being this huge progenitor of EN vtubing where everyone circlejerks about her also gets annoying. I think she was just at the right place and the right time to be at the beginning of the EN vtubing boom and it would have kicked off and grown huge with or without her, and she gets way too much credit for it.

Anyways, it's nice to see I'm not in some dream world where I'm the only one who thinks she isn't that good, because it feels that way if you read anything on reddit or twitter. Feels like if you said anything but the highest praise for her there and didn't idolize her (ironically), you'd get downvoted to oblivion or canceled.

And speaking of Gura in that regard, I almost think Senzawa could have been classified in a similar way. So it makes me like her more that she "grew up" and out of that phase. Reflect of course makes it seems like she realizes that and has moved on, so I hope she doesn't slip back into it again. I was a bit worried during her anniversary stream when she said she was going to stop giving an F and just do stuff that she might, but in the end she just turned more into the meme-y/bratty shark we already liked.

Even back during her Senzawa days Gura would be inherently more tolerable as a natural born memer gremlin than Coco's forced edgy humor. She's also just more chill and pleasant to listen to. Coco overreacting to shitty memes or jokes and being obnoxiously loud about it is just not fun.

I wonder if Coco saw the writing on the wall with how EN was doing and decided to bail before her audience was cannibalized.

I was recording the stream in case it wasn't getting archived but I still have no idea what artwork of Lia chat is talking about at 1:34:21~. It's the same stuff you see in other circles with vague answers instead of just getting right to it. Are they talking about the massive futa Lia artwork or was it something more recent? Interesting note, the pixiv page for phase connect is cursed and has futa artwork of Pippa's 20in schlong, Lia and Uruka, all from Aegis. Also Sakana and most of the staff minus Muumi was there, 1:31:57 Sakana said in chat, "you are doing pippa cosplay" because she was talking about lewd art. One last note, chat needed a bonk because they wanted to get stepped on Iori, the deer lady and Uruka was completely confused why chat would want that. Overall, chill stream.

The free concert was a lot of fun, I'd favorite the stream if it was just those 30 min but most of the stream was instrumental waiting for 30 min and instrumental outro for 7 or so. Will it inevitable be HoloEN without Coco? That isn't easy to say since I'm not a Holofan before Coco, and you sure as hell I'm bias. But before Coco, Hololive subreddit doesn't have that much of an engagement. She turn the community into content and make a feedback loop where fan interaction is part of the whole Holo ecology. And you can't deny that she's an inspiration of many EN/JP Vtubers. Her status as an English meme queen draw Western internet to Hololive that would not have interest in it in the first place - which lead to her shilling HoloEN idea to management and get it approve. Would HoloEN will still be a thing without her? That could very well be, but I can see that it wouldn't come as soon as it is, and not at the peak of where it blow up this big. Hololive could have wait until Nijisanji debut their before follow suit. Maybe both agency never will, and the peak of Vtuber would have slip pass and settle into a super niche hobby overseas. But at this point we're talking in what if.

And I get you guys want to be a different voice when the general opinion hold Coco/Kson in good light. You can dislike her content, or her perceived personality, but if you unironically say all Coco/Kson's is "hehe boob joke and screaming in English", you just out yourself as causal clip-watching tourists. It's like saying Marine is always horny and Rushia is just screaming pettan.

Not quite sure how well it fits her, I don't speak moonrune so I don't know a lot about her besides the clips, but considering she featured on a RoughSketch track, there's probably something to that. I do think it's almost certainly one of the best alt costume designs I've seen for a Vtuber, with that alt Mayuzumi revealed at the Shibuya Crossing transmission definitely being there too. I'm not sure if the helmet version was in one of his lore videos too, but that's just as dope.

Both designs are chuuni/edgy as shit, totally, but if that's a problem then maybe other themes' designers should step their game up.

Idk, I can sort of see where you and Bob are coming from but I disagree.
IMO, the reason the dragon stuck out was because she was a Japanese woman with an American sense of humor which is incredibly rare and refreshing.
Sure, the pandemic and the virus that shall not be named played a role in Virtual YouTubers taking off but I think Coco acted as a great entry point into the medium for many because she wasn't a typical stereotype which added to the intrigue.
She caused a domino effect that directly led to the creation Myth which by extension cause people like me to find out about the voice actors behind the girls and become fans of said talents.
TLDR- In many ways she's the progenitor of what her English counterparts would become and if fans hadn't flocked to talents like Coco in the first place it's unlikely that Myth would have been presented as it is today.
