At this point the number of VA's, Actresses and former Idols they must have would make it impossible for someone like Subaru to make it in.

Probably hard for someone like Subaru, but I'd guess that the competition is still mainly from internet content creators. Not many notable VAs, actresses, or idols have switched to corporate vtubing. It's more people who couldn't make it in those other industries, or who were pretty obscure.

I will say it seems like Nux has totally won. Between the receipts he had and that totally strange (in retrospect) tweet/statement from Vshojo they released when the video first came out saying they supported him and thanked him, only to take it down later when the "girls" started piling on him, I don't know how anyone can be on VS's side. And then he manned up and apologized anyway without throwing anyone specific under the bus. I may not like him, but at least gained a little respect. And lost some more for VS.

I haven't had a chance to watch La+ full debut video(s), but from the clips I've seen she is great. She feels like the chuuni/loli/tsun/gaki straight out of an anime. I'm not sure what they make as a normal VA job, but vtubing is making bank espeically in the big corps like HL and Niji and has to be tempting. Having streaming background is nice, but HL has already proven that it isn't necessarily a requirement with some of their hires, that can be learned OJT.

For the most part I've given up even trying to read their posts, let alone translate or respond.

They're the same people. Selen herself said that Ollie was the single most-requested APEX collab partner she's received. The overlap is massive.

A lot of NijiEN's fanbase is comprised of people who were at one point Holo-Only or big Holo fans too, this includes even some of the members (Enna is a Deadbeat, Pomu is KFP, Selen's roommate was the person who told Gura her original emotes were traced, Millie is a Takodachi/ID stan). Outside of KF and /vt/ are thousands upon thousands of people who love both Niji and Holo and want to see their favourites interact - and are disappointed when it gets knocked back. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp unless you're a Tribalist.

If we manage to go 2-3 months without a single Millie/Moona collab, I'll be fully convinced that management is blocking it.
I'm about 75% a Holofag, watch more indies/small-corpos than Nijis actually, but that doesn't extend to blindly defending their management.

When you start excusing their shitty actions or any shitty behavior is probably the peak simp. I guess normally just buying merch + being a member + donating also. I got the Gura Nendoroid but im not part of her memberships nor have I ever donated to her (or any of the others).

I'd say it's when your emotional attachment to a vtuber becomes more personal than your attachment as a fan towards an actor/musician. You're a simp if you start considering a specific vtuber as 'something more' than an artist you really like or enjoy. It doesn't mean you have to go full gachikoi route and declare your undying love for them; it's about giving them a treatment you'd give to someone you care about IRL.

but yeah, if a simp doesn't have money then it's defending the vtuber from everything and sticking his nose into their and their fans' conversations. I'm pretty sure that this is the kind of scenario we see with Shinobu in Monogatari. All the lore mentions of having powers and knowledge locked away point toward that. Plus, the first piece of art she herself has used of herself, the one during the song, is this:

It is noticeably in an older and more adult design, the Halo is visible coupled with a nun's veil (given that she is 'the fallen one'), and she has fucking gun. It seems like the implication is that, like Shinobu, more power=older appearance.

Which leads me to an interesting hope/rrat: Cover has been experimenting a lot more with varied designs and pushing more lore/backstory importance. I wonder if we'll see models changing more in the future to reflect this kind of thing. As of right now, this design doesn't seem so stage friendly (and with a voice like that this bitch better be on stage), so I wonder if a newer (taller) more adult design would come down the road that could be changed out. It would be an interesting kind of surprise and the 'release the limiter' meme fits right in.

I always hearken back to my 'VTubers are strippers with more talent' metaphor. The same rules essentially apply. The line is fine and gray; with the difference between 'I go to strip clubs' and 'Charlotte really loves me' being similar to the difference between 'I watch and support my oshi' and 'Gura would totally want to fuck me in person.' Maybe, just maybe that would be the case. . . but once you internalize the latter thoughts when they are objectively untrue. . . you've become the TurboSimp. . . like Lyger.
