Can we have a Kate Bush thread? Shes so underrated imo

She deserves a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So many artists list her as an influence, she was an original in the pop world combining dance and mime with music and theatrics in the 70s, especially setting the standard for women in music.

Tabloids make fat jokes about her but she's not Jabba the Hutt like people say. She stays out of the public eye and that is okay.

What's your favorite KB album/song?

Great singer, great storyteller. It always amazes me how well she can weave a story from the perspective of someone else. Example: in "Cloudbusting" she sings from the perspective of Wilhelm Reich's son, as they are taking his father away to prison. Really underrated singer. A lot of the things she did back then were groundbreaking. Anyway since 'tis the season, I recommend listening to "50 Words for Snow" (one of my faves).

Yeah even really complicated stuff like the philosophy stuff in Sat in Your Lap, the absolutely bonkers key changes in Wuthering Heights, a fetus attempting to kill its twin in the womb, a woman trapped under ice, etc.

Xmas message from Kate

Someone I know went to her concert a few years ago and I never recovered from my jealousy.

It's hard to pick a favorite song but Senusal World is pretty top for me. There's something about it and the quality of her voice that really reminds me intimacy and the way you feel during the first few months of love and lust in a relationship.

Maybe it's a sperg but I love how unapologetic feminine she is as well, vulnerable and strong both in equal measures depending on song narrator. And how she celebrates and sings about genuine love from a woman's perspective towards men as well in a lot of her songs.

I should mention she removed Rolf Harris from the Aerial remaster thankfully. Because pedo.

Not the biggest fan of her son Bertie being in a lot of her stuff tbh but I guess he means well.

Did you know she basically invented the wireless headset with microphone that is used during live performances?

I didn't know that, but am entirely unsurprised; performance was a huge part of her artistry, so that makes sense.

I've always admired her willingness to record whatever she pleases, regardless of what the current musical trends are (much like another favorite of mine, Tom Waits).

Yeah here in America I don't know one person "into music" who doesn't rate her highly, even the metalheads I know. I wouldn't say underrated. She kinda started her own "artistic" pop diva pseudo genre, followed by clones/influencees like Jun Togawa, arguably Bjork, etc. She's considered a big deal.

I thought she was extremely popular (at least in the UK and Europe).

An innovator, unique and true to herself, a true artist at heart with raw energy soaring out of her vocals and lyrics. Literally impossible to not appreciate her and her music even without considering myself a huge fan or such. :)
Unfortunately she didn't get as much promo here in the states that she should have
