Biggest nightmare for me right now would be a Ukranian commander trying to fight this invasion. What do you even do? Stand, fight and die or take your soldiers and try to survive?

You scream helplessly into a radio that no longer works due to Russian EWAR asking for some guidance from your command and then get crushed and burned by a thermobaric detonation. Game over.

>Reports of heavy clashes near the airport in Dnepropetrovsk

>Explosions reported in Kahovka

>Massive explosions hit the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol

No plan ever holds after first contact. Putin is clearly going for a kill shot but he's not guaranteed it. He knows that he can't afford a protracted conflict. He needs a fait accompli as fast as possible so he is taking huge risks. An airborne assault of the enemy capital a hundred kilometers beyond your FLOT is absolutely insane. Those airborne troopers can just as easily be cut off and killed if the Ukrainian military does organize a counter attack.

Russia is risking a defeat in detail here if they are really trying to bum rush Ukraine. We will know more by tomorrow.
Seems the plan is trying to do something before NATO can really have a response. As you said there will be more information tomorrow because currently the fog of war is far to dense.

It's Russian MO since Afghanistan -- drop in, shoot the boss, hope his followers don't guerrilla you to death with CIA rockets.

Uh, hope it works? Maybe?

Are the Baltics in NATO? Because Putin can't afford a real fight because he can't replace the men and material.

Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are in NATO so for what it's worth they actually do have some form of protection and the Poles have been increasing military spending also the US moved more forces into Poland and out of Germany over the last few years.
