Twitter of the Wagner group (Russian blackwater clone) is sounding like its going down today. Wagner did alot in Syria for the Russians unitl they accidentally (if it was intentional it was suicide) attack a group of 20 US special forces. US artillery and attack helicopters racked up 100-200 Russian killed that day. Pentagon says 100+ killed. A leaked internal wagner call says 200 were killed in the first strike.

When war happens the government always changes their tune real fast. Look at Vietnam, the government propped up conservatives and banged the patriotic drum. At the end of the day it is up to you if you want to fight for your country. Remember in a world war situation it doesn't matter who your elected official are because much of the decisions fall on the military branch. On the bright side if this did blow up and become a world wide conflict, Leftist support for fighting in a war would probably be at an all time high. Losing in a global conflict would be harsh, so far the "West" has not lost a world war, I could imagine the Russians and Chinese will not be very forgiving to us and our families if they win.

I believe the area around Chernobyl/Pripyat is still uninhabited. The radiation would still spread on the wind like it did last time but the levels are lower now so it wouldn't go as far.

But now that you mention it, I could see Ukraine blowing the containment dome themselves as a last resort "fuck you" move if they are completely defeated. Just to make things difficult for Russians
