and the Baltic states are an even easier route to go through to invade
No way. The Baltic states are extremely vulnerable. If shit ever pops off up there, the Russians will just close the Suwalki Gap and the Baltics will collapse, along with any NATO forces in there. Some say NATO plans in the event of a Russia war are basically to let the Baltics fall, and maybe get them back later if/when the whole front moves to open them back up. In a military sense, they're basically indefensible.

Bullshit like this for the Baltics is a complete joke, an empty gesture:
Nato to announce 4,000-strong rapid reaction force to counter Russian threat

Let's look at it analytically. Russia has utterly annihilated their naval and aerial forces. Meaning any ground resistance starts out with enemy air superiority and no supplies.

That alone is crippling, but it gets worse.

Russia is almost entirely specialized in defensive armament, and its main assault has been almost all spec ops. That leaves a -ton- of conscripted forces to set up those defenses in waves going forward so any counteroffensive will be met with entrenched defense.

So now we have a counter offensive against an entrenched defensive force that has aerial superiority and control of the main supply lines.

The only way Ukraine stands a chance is full backing from a foreign power... all of whom are waiting until tomorrow to do anything at all.
It's rubber meets road time for NATO. They Flake, they might as well just disband. They go in, They might trigger a joining of Russia and China.

Well now.

Chinese war ships entered Taiwanese territorial waters. It's too soon to tell anything as this tends to happen occasionally. Could be a demonstration.

Before everyone shits themselves, this isn't exactly verified.
Oh no....

Could this be....

WHAT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR?!

Jesus christ I totally forgot about Chernobyl among all this shit happening. If I remember correctly, the elephant's foot area is encased in a huge concrete 'coffin', but who knows how much bombardment that can withstand.
The elephant's foot has been buried under a bunch of sand and concrete for decades. The real threat at Chernobyl is if the concrete sarcophagus collapses, it will eject a shitload of radioactive dust into the atmosphere and go wherever the wind takes it. The sarcophagus has exceeded its intended lifespan and there's since been a multi-nation/multi-billion dollar project to put a new covering around everything that is equipped with robotic cranes so they can start disassembling the building and reactor.

The new structure around reactor 4 could not withstand an attack. It's designed to be a big radioactive shield with a crane inside it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's poorly built considering the corruption in Ukraine and it was built by a bureaucracy of nations. If a large explosion went off nearby, the sarcophagus and reactor building could collapse. The dome was designed with that in mind, but it's not really something you can test either.

Fuck it, can't sleep. Might as well keep up with this!

Are they skateboarding while shooting?
They are needed for soldiers to be able to fight, just as needed as boots are. Soldiers do a lot of crouching, walking and other physical movements in combat so they need to have support in those areas of the body. Otherwise, things go bad!
I feel guilty to know that my gut feeling was right. I feel shit that it's the morning and in a few hours the panic will actually set it and then it's going to be FFA in the place I've lived for 8 years.

No, this isn't an ask for asspats, I'm just sad.
Don't feel guilty, it's not like you could have personally walked into Putin's office and forced him to withdraw. You're not at fault for feeling the collateral effects of raging narcissists playing games with human lives to satisfy their own egos. Survivor's guilt is a bitch, but you're stronger than that!
in fact, there is NO INFORMATION from or about Ukrainian ground forces for either side. this strikes me as jamming and EM control on both sides. if there were mass defections we would have heard about it by now.

The fact that the ukrainian air force is reportedly still in the game means this might drag on a bit longer that was initially feared. Ukraine will lose. that most is almost a certain outcome but a complete collapse and surrender to the country that has killed 12 million of their people in living memory seems a bit outlandish.

Precisely, it's a given that this shit will suck and that thousands of innocents are going to die because of this horseshit, but everything else is clouded so far. The only thing we know is that there will be blood, just not how much!

The Ukraine ministry of defense is sending out info right now.

My take: the fog of war is real. we should be aware that we are getting this info from twitter of all place.
What is true as far as i can tell:
Cruise missile strikes across region, targeting all major cities in the eastern regions and on the Dnieper.
The strikes on the cities and airports seem to be missiles only, no aircraft.
massive artillery attacks across the border.

What is not confirmed as being 100% true:
Mariupol being overrun
A raid on a airport in Kiev with paratroopers.
landings in Odessa
bombing in Moldova

in fact, there is NO INFORMATION from or about Ukrainian ground forces for either side. this strikes me as jamming and EM control on both sides. if there were mass defections we would have heard about it by now.

This is a country that has a memorial to a Waffen SS unit which was predominately made up of ethnically Ukrainian volunteers.

If anyone has an axe to grind with the Russians it would be them, one would think so anyway

Alright looks like both sides have finally cranked up their propaganda machines and depending on your political persuasions people are going to be cherry picking which dubious information they want to believe. This is where shit always gets boring, I'm gonna peace out. Hopefully we have some kino war footage and a better idea of wtf is actually going on tomorrow.

oh and @Vince McMahon stay safe nigga I can't imagine if it was my home being run roughshod over by a bunch of runiggers, that's fucked man. I hope your request for asylum goes well.
