Remember, the US has close to a Division in Poland at this time and recently reinforced it with Active Duty troops since a lot of it was Nasty Girlz. Several artillery units, a few ordnance units, and moving a SHITPOT of ammunition from the ammunition depots in Germany to Poland since Germany threw a bitch fit and wanted all that ammo out.

The Nasty Girlz units there have good solid leadership, a lot of it with experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, and have been working with interlocking with the Polish military pretty heavily. (I know a couple people IRL that are in those units)

If Russia does hit Poland, they'll have to avoid hitting the US troops, many of which are (if their leaders have any common sense) already unassed the barracks and have hit the field sites and scattered to their deployment positions.

Fantasies of him rolling over Poland means killing a division or two of US troops, and that won't sit well with anyone.

Oh, and there's a nice batch of M1 tanks, fully loaded, and a batch of Apaches there too, along with some air defense units.

Poland is a member of NATO, if Russia attacks it the United States is obligated to go war with Russia along with the other members of NATO

If the PLA were going to invade Taiwan, you would see the same thing what Putin did to Ukraine: months upon months of military preparation.

They don't have to invade the main island. There are smaller islands, one of which is in spitting distance of a mainland city, that could be grabbed and we would do fuck all about it in this situation. It would be a symbolic victory and would undermine both the sanctity of Taiwan's territorial integrity and the reliability of the US security umbrella even as it also fails in Europe.
