If there is anything that is certain it's that the U.S. will gladly go back on its word to an ally. All the way back to the Iroquois, the South Vietnamese, and every abandoned color revolution in LatAm and the Middle East. If I was Taiwan, South Korea, or Japan I'd be looking into making sure that I can actually defend my soil rather than rely upon the "diversity is our greatest strength" military.

lol what ..... that wont do jack shit to protect against a HEAT warhead anywhere close to the diameter of a modern ATGM, much less tandem warheads from above like the Javelin.

Slated/segmented armor isn't anything new, nor are canopies to protect against weather and sometimes shrapnel or weaker top attacks from less advanced anti-tank weapons (in urban environments) or more recently improvised civilian drones.

Realistically the only effect that would have on a top attack ATGM is it might slightly interfere with its thermal tracker if it was fired from a really shitty position, assuming they bother to put the kevlar covers on them.
