They are right outside of the capital, on the verge of breaking through every single major defensive fortification.

Now is the best time to offer. If he refuses, Putin loses nothing he hadn't already committed and is in the greatest position of strength. It is clear they are getting no support. It's all but saying "Will my puppet be you, or the guy I put in your place?"

Holy shit. Shut the fuck up. Trump attacked their ongoing military operations with cruise missiles in Syria. It was a massive strike on a military installation after the gas attacks in Khan Shaykhun. They weren't friends.

Or did you forget about that?

Why would he? He was waiting for the perfect time. If it was just because Biden is in charge, why didn't he do it a year ago? Or 6 months ago? That's like asking why did Hitler wait until 1939 to invade Poland

their government is still functioning, their military is still functioning and mass panic is not in the air yet. even if it is hopeless for ukraine (and it likely is) they have no reason to capitulate yet. after another night of strategic bombing? maybe. but the russians have not inflicted enough damage yet for the offer to be enticing.
