Macron isn't capable of filling any "leadership voids". No one in Europe is.
But at least he seems to have a direct line to Putin, which can't be said for any other Westerns leaders atm. As fucked as the situation is, both sides still have time to mitigate their losses.

Dafuq?

Using non-uniformed combatants is a straight-up Geneva Convention violation, and would result in those people having the status of "illegal combatants" - the least-protected status in warfare.

Remember, the Geneva Conventions guarantee special protections to people of the following status:
  • "Civilian": You're not a legitimate target. "Proportionality" restricts whether you may be killed as collateral damage in a strike against a legitimate target near you.
  • "Privileged combatant" (i.e. regular soldier): You must be properly treated as a POV when captured.
An "illegal combatant" has neither of those protections.
Thus it's something you really don't want to call on your population to become, except as a matter of last resort in the face of extinction.
So either, the Ukrainian ministry of defense is really desperate - or they're assholes who would gladly sacrifice their citizens' legal protections in an effort to hold on to power.

... Or maybe they're just banking on the Western world / courts not giving a fuck about the Geneva Conventions anymore in the Current Year, and simply declaring all that Russia did illegal, and all that Ukraine did legal, by fiat.

Disclaimer: IANAL, just a fellow sperg.
It's actually not, under the Geneva convention during an invasion Civilians are entitled to take up arms against invaders.
6. Inhabitants of a non-occupied territory, who on the approach of the enemy spontaneously take up arms to resist the invading forces, without having had time to form themselves into regular armed units, provided they carry arms openly and respect the laws and customs of war

Im not going to be lectured on world politics by the beggar of the infantryman
Force must be met with force, its not an emotional statment its one that history bears out
I think your the one emotionally connect to this cause you saw your buddy's dome get blown off in Al-Fallujah for Dick Cheney's benefit
Then get your ass to a recruiter, Rambo. Put your money where you mouth is and quit being a chickenhawk.

It's hilarious how you think that Trump, a man who continues to kiss the ass of Putin to this day, would stand up to him. Republicans gonna Republican, though. I know, you love Dear Leader a lot and you Republicans love to be grifted, but man, get some dignity.
What a dipshit, all I see is you on here pushing uniparty politics. You aren't on either team and you would be wise to learn that. Democrats don't care for you any more than Republicans. Keep pushing that sorry "you're a Republican" line about anyone who disagrees with you.

You can't help but laugh when you see the state department making another prediction on when an ally city will fall so soon after Afghanistan, completely resigned to failure. History will remember them as the delusional weaklings and cowards they are no matter what happens from here.

This is incredibly apropos for Biden, who is clearly more concerned with his gay legacy than anything else. He could've just backed out of the spotlight and would have been remembered as Obama's inoffensive VP. But he had to be a big boy and save America from Orange Hitler. Now no one will remember him for anything other than overseeing the chaotic decline of American hegemony. It's almost poetic.

Total War is also why the invasion was delayed instead of happening on the 16th. Putin had to play some Kislev before the war starts and the new game just got released on the 17th.

But seriously, i really wonder if/when we will hear "We expect Taipei to fall in XX hours. Sanctions against Chinese socks and sock-related products will teach them a lesson that the free and democratic world™, lead by ol' uncle Joe does not tolerate mean bully countries.
Unless they are aligned to us and the people who are being bullied are anti-corona demonstrators or other undesireables."

Meanwhile in EU-rope, a liter of any fossile fuel will raise to 15€+ after eco-taxes and "oops this goods main supplier is sanctioned now, its price went up 10x."
Give it 5-10 years after the fall of Kiev, and the rest of the EU will have sanctioned itself back into the early industrial era, and be practically asking to be taken by anyone who wants to, and who has the fuel to drive a tank there.
This isnt just the decline of America, its the decline of all of its European colony states (purely out of solidarity) as well.

To be fair, if they actually killed/unpersoned all the Nazis Germany would be a Haiti-tier slave country, because everyone who was in a position to organise anything had to be part of the Party. The only ethnic Germans with those capabilities outside of the Party were a tiny minority of people willing to commit career suicide for their beliefs.
I've watched a German documentary about Werwolves once where they interviewed actual former members. My memory is fuzzy but they admitted that it was mostly smoke and mirrors. But the Russians exaggerated it so they could exact revenge by killing people left and right or rounding them up for slave labor by the hundreds. One former member said that many of his non-member acquaintances were arrested while he went out dancing and chasing skirts every other evening.

"Force must be met with force"
Correct if you are being invaded, incorrect if you are on the other side of the globe and your forceful involvement would lead to the worst crisis in the history of humanity.
