God, Russia is doing exactly what Twitter wants. They are opening borders, and taking a very very hard stance against NFTS? I don't see why Twitter is so mad at them. They are giving the people what they want. Just in a very forceful way.

Massive tinfoil hat theory: Several people in this topic have mentioned Ukraine being a hotbed of corrupt western business dealings, including but not limited to the Bidens. Direct evidence of this probably exists SOMEWHERE in Ukraine. Now, knowing that our politicians are self serving cowards... what are the odds they might try to force us into a war and risk a potential nuclear exchange, just for the possibility of protecting their own secrets?

What a fucking idiot. They're basically doomed now.

Probably taken with a grain of salt, but...

Not enterly impossible. If they hit the "sarcophagus" or a waste dump it could fling irradiated crap all over the place.

It's not really a dangerous place under normal circumstances, but there's still a lot of nasty stuff just under the surface you don't want to disturb.

Also, I feel compelled to make this joke:

"65,500? That's not great, but it's not horrifying."

They would probably just send in an unmarked strike team to dispose of the evidence subtly with no one ever knowing what happened

The Russians will 100% try to round up dangerous enemies of the russian state like particularly problematic journalists, and popular army leaders that could form the basis of a guerilla movement.
There are Rosgvardiya units following the army into Ukraine. They are the modern equivalent of the old NKVD rifle battalions, their job is asking questions, digging pits, and putting 9mm bullets into the back of heads

Yeah well he can cry about it. Not our beef and never should be. Seriously if I was Ukraine even though it's a coward move I'd just wave the white flag and assimilate into the putin gunt
Zelensky refusing to back down and surrender to Russia is the biggest coward move. He could end the conflict without much more lives and resources wasted; it's a leader's job to do what is in the countryman's interest. At least it is on paper.

Zelensky has made a statement detailing today's actions.

137 Soldiers killed
316 wounded

"I remain in the capital with my people, my family is also in Ukraine. There is information that the enemy has designated me as target number 1 and my family as target number 2," Zelensky said.

"I asked 27 European leaders today if Ukraine will be in NATO, I asked straight out. All of them are afraid. They do not answer. And we are not afraid of anything. We are not afraid of Russia, we are not afraid to talk to Russia, talk about everything: security guarantees for our country and neutral status (we are not in NATO now), but what guarantees will we have," Zelensky added.

Approximately 100%
"An attack on Ukraine is an attack on Democracy"
"The American people must make a sacrifice to preserve freedom"
"If we don't stop the threat here, we'll have to stop it on our shores"
"We need to show our allies they can depend on us" (I know, L Oh Fucking EL)

Not sure if it is a masterful intelligence play by Russia or a masterful lack of intelligence play by NATO but the ukies seem to have been convinced Russia wasn't invading

If he doesn't flee to country and goes down with the ship though, that's kinda badass and unseen in politicians nowadays

It is probably inviting more invasions in the future in other regions which will cause a mess, but there is the fact that the US is not the only country in the world that could try stepping in. The entirety of Western Europe could've tried sending in troops to help in 2014 or now to attempt pushing Putin back, but no one wants to as it's almost universally seen as too costly to stop Russia whether in terms of human lives or money (probably mostly the latter).

The US fucked up monumentally by not keeping its promises so now there's little reason for any country to imagine the US will protect anything for anyone. Unless it's some random brown people in the Middle East then the US will happily send in troops (or at least drones) to defend their freedom to fuck kids or whatever.
We're gonna see a lot of countries attempt nuclear programs now that US defense guarentees don't mean shit.
