President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

By the way, cos i think this was asked about, Poland has gifted Ukraine with anti airctaft weapons - Piorun.

PPZR Piorun is a short-range, man-portable anti-aircraft missile system produced by Polish company Mesko. It is alternatively known as Grom-M (where M stands for “modified”). As the name suggests, it is a deeply modified and modernized version of Grom (Polish for “thunder”), which in its turn is a localized Polish version of older Soviet-made 9K38 Igla systems (NATO reporting name SA-18 Grouse) operated since the early 1980s.

Piorun (Polish for “thunderbolt”) was introduced in the Polish military as recently as 2019 to gradually retire increasingly obsolete Groms. Defense Minister Blaszczak in his Feb. 2 announcement said Poland is giving Ukraine its “newest weapon.”

The system weighs 16.5 kilograms and is 1.6 meters long in total. The weapon is designed to target low-flying airplanes and helicopters, as well as drones. According to developers, Piorun is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 6,500 meters and at an altitude of up to 4,000 meters, which is enough to engage any Soviet or Russian-made combat helicopter.

The missile’s fragmenting warhead’s infrared targeting system was seriously improved, which gave the system a wider operational range and stronger ability to resist interference. Besides, the weapon has an individual authorization system for operators and is also adapted to be used in night time.

Upon its specifications, the Piorun is generally comparable or even superior to its newest Russian rival, 9K333 Verba system, which has been in operation since 2014.

Russian warship hails the Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island, orders them to lay down their arms. Ukrainian reply, "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

The President of Ukraine confirms the defenders were killed to the last man, vows that they will be remembered as heroes (He is giving an address live right now https://nitter.net/Caucasuswar/status/1496981935226339330#m)
Cut off from the main land, no hope of reinforcements and pretty much outgunned. They gave a middle finger before being cratered. Legends.

Every single fucking recruitment billboard in my area features women and niggers. I really hope they show their patriotism en masse while Whites stay behind for once.
They won't in anywhere near the same numbers, and it's very possible the US won't put a single boot on the ground, but damn I want regiments of western liberal women and trannies shipping off to The Ukraine. In between getting their heads blown off by Ivan, they'll be sobbing in a corner from all the slurs their Polish and Ukrainian allies are constantly calling them.

Of course I don't support Russia, but would you blame em?

That's basically my take. I don't support what Russia is doing to The Ukraine (the genocide stuff is bullshit), but I DEFINITELY don't support the globohomo factions in America and Western Europe that have been fapping at the idea of doing a military intervention against Russia for years.

I'm unaware as to Ukraine's current culture, are they pozzed SJWs or are they based & redpilled?
According to both the Russians, Russia simps, and lefties in the US before last Thursday, their current government is full of groups that trace their lineage back to Nazi sympathizers. They DEFINITELY trace their lineage back to Cold War anticommunist dissident groups.

So pretty based and redpilled. End based on based violence, ya'll.

Greetings from Poland.

The entire fucking liberal west is responsible for this shit show. It's been going on since 1989 when the iron curtain fell down and Poland, Czechia and Hungary immediately joined NATO followed by other EE countries in years to come.

Apparently Putin was promised in the 90s there would be no NATO and EU expansion further to the East. But then there was Georgia, now Ukraine. Occupied countries can't joined the EU (and I think NATO as well).

That fat hobgoblin Merkel knew about it and even stated years ago that inviting Ukraine to join NATO would only piss Russia off but then decided not to do anything about it.

Of course Russia doesn't want to be surrounded by capitalist western democratic military alliance with NATO troops having a daily cookout by their borders.

I've also heard Canada is planning to send their military support to Poland which made me laugh out loud, can't wait for your army of troons to come and help us fight the Ruskies, thank you Miss Trudeau.
Not only is this true, but the current Ukrainian government came to power in a (probably CIA backed) coup after the previous legislature refused to vote in a measure to join NATO. The measure had popular support, but the legislature was opposed to it precisely because they knew it would antagonize Russia and could cause this shit to happen.

Again, just to be clear, Russia's genocide claims appear by all observable evidence to be bullshit, but their real concerns about a NATO member cutting off their access to the Black Sea are pretty legitimate when you consider how Democrats in the US have been ranting about Russia for about a decade.

>Russia doesn't want to be surrounded by NATO that's why it's been threatening Ukraine and driving it closer to NATO and now just invaded the country which will give it a border with 4 more NATO countries who are now even more pissed off by Russia than usual.

Man thit is some giga-brain 5D geopolitical manuevering right there.

Reports that Russian artillery has damaged nuclear waste containment facilities near the Chernobyl reactor, causing a rise in local radiation levels. Remains unconfirmed.
Oh wouldn't that be swell, the Russians accidentally strike the CPP core & cause a nuclear explosion, causing governments to assume that nukes had been launched.

I'm just wondering what's up with all this talk of a "repeat of 1986" like the Russians are going to blow up the containment and shoot nuclear dust everywhere again. That would be an incredibly stupid action that would benefit absolutely nobody.

I suppose there is always the incompetence option. The New Safe Confinement does look a bit like an aircraft hangar from a distance. A nuclear meltdown isn't going to happen though no matter how hard they shoot at it, because what nuclear material is left on site has been diluted so much through melting with the surrounding materials that it's not going to do much other than irradiate everything around it. Even the explosions that did happen were steam explosions, because the reactors are designed to not undergo thermonuclear detonation.

It would not cause a nuclear explosion it would just release massive amounts of radioactive material all over Europe like a dirty bomb. It would take years to give them cancer and make all their offspring deformed. I hope Null has Iodine pills.

I suspect that the Russians occupied The Zone to make it harder for the CIA to do a false flag of exactly that scenario.

You are certifiably insane if you think the US, NATO at large, and anyone else holding Poland accountable is going to allow WW3 to happen because some dumbasses with unpronounceable names decided they "weren't going to tolerate a direct border with Moscow".

They will tolerate whatever the fuck they're told to tolerate. They have the backing of NATO so nobody is going to be steamrolling them. Them going out into foreign territory and trying to pick fights with another country in direct combat is absolute madness.
The last world leader to dictate that Poland behave the way you insist was Neville Chamberlain. I’m saying Poland will view this very very differently than the NATO Leadership. NATO did not keep Poland safe for 50 years. It left them enslaved to Moscow. The Poles expect NATO to guarantee their security in return for their membership. Just a reminder, Poland is the ONLY European NATO member to actually honor and hit it’s NATO Military funding requirements. Being told to stand down and pay no mind to the wolf at their door by Germany is not something that will play well. If Russian Troops get within 100 miles of the Polish border all bets are off.

“Poland” is a fictitious country, just like Ukraine. It never existed, there are no “Poles”, it was always Russian territory and will be Russian again.

The people claiming it's Trump's fault, did they forget this Obama gem with Medvedev who was keeping Putin's seat warm at the time

Here's another thing people haven't considered, if Russia gets kicked off of the SWIFT system, China will probably be fine taking Russia as an ally as a new banking system. That doesn't seem like a big deal, because the US and Europe are the financial systems of the world, but China makes pretty much everything in the world. What good is money when you can't buy shit with? There's a reason why they can't kick Russia out of the SWIFT system, but if they do, I'm fine with the Globo-Homo banking system collapsing for all of their bullshit against regular people.

It that happened then we should all point and laugh at Putin and the Russian Army for not being able to avoid shelling the one spot in the entire country that they shouldn't shell.

Fucking Vodka-Niggers

Ok now I'm convinced (((Putin))) is just doing a gayop for da Hollywood Jooz:

MORE ON:LOUIS C.K.

Louis CK is cracking jokes in a war zone.
The once-cancelled stand-up comedian is apparently laughing in the face of danger as his upcoming performances at the National Palace of Arts in Kyiv are still scheduled to take place this weekend — despite Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
“The Louis CK Show in Kyiv has not been cancelled,” tweeted a fan Wednesday. The trending post was accompanied by a graphic reading: “Dear attendees, Louis C.K. performance will take place, as planned, on February 25 and 26, 2022. Tickets for Louis C.K. show purchased earlier remain valid for new dates and do not require an exchange.”
Reps for Louis CK, 54, have yet to publicly confirm the status of his upcoming shows amid the attacks on Ukraine — and the accompanying chaos, which has sparked a mass exodus from the nation.

However, online marketplace Tickethunt.com is still hawking passes to the shows at a 30% discount. Daredevils looking for a laugh can score choice balcony seats to CK’s show for approximately $11.70.
But here’s the rub: Concertgoers will reportedly have to forgo their phones.
The venue’s security team will force audience members to “put their phones in lockboxes so as to not leak any sensitive material” to the media, according Gawker.
But what’s a few hours apart from your iPhone when you’re busting a gut in the middle of a city under siege?
CK — who fell from jokester glory in 2017 following a flurry of sexual misconduct allegations — isn’t the only Hollywood bigwig braving the Russian threat.

Why is Russia invading Ukraine? Explaining the roots of a long-simmering conflict

Penn, 61, looked combat cool in sunglasses and a beige bomber jacket as he sat first row at a press briefing held at Ukrainian president (Volodymyr Zelensky)’s office on Thursday.
And the seemingly fearless Oscar winner has been commended for his presence in the troubled territory.
“(Sean Penn) demonstrates the courage that many others, especially Western politicians lack,” a spokesperson for the Ukrainian embassy told Newsweek. “The more such people in our country now, true friends of Ukraine, who support the struggle for freedom, the sooner it will be possible to stop Russia’s treacherous attack.”

You're reversing cause and effect. The new government in The Ukraine after the coup was already going to join NATO. They overthrew the previous government in order to do exactly that. This put Russia in a damned-if-you=do, damned-if-you-don't situation. If they didn't threaten The Ukraine, The Ukraine would just join NATO and put NATO missiles, etc in its territory pointed at Russia. if they did threaten The Ukraine, they're "driving it closer to NATO." They went with the latter, because at least there was a possibility of the Ukrainian government backing down. That didn't happen, so now we have bullets flying.

As for getting a border with 4 more NATO countries, you're buying into the idea that Russia intends to add the whole Ukraine to its territory. This seems to be western propaganda, since Putin sent out a video speech that he'll negotiate surrender terms if The Ukraine agrees not to join NATO and to demilitarize. If The Ukraine complies, it will still exist as a buffer state between Russia and those other NATO states, although he possibly also intends to take the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, if it looks like he can get away with it.

The last world leader to dictate that Poland behave the way you insist was Neville Chamberlain. I’m saying Poland will view this very very differently than the NATO Leadership. I don't blame Poland for feeling that way, considering that the west hung them out to dry the last time they were invaded. But as I said above, Russia keeping all of The Ukraine doesn't appear to be the agenda, and this just gives them another good reason not to. If they're smart, they'll steer clear of the Polish border to avoid adding another enemy to the conflict. Of course, military blundering or too much belligerence bringing Poland into the conflict is always a possibility.
