Dumbass question: Is the natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany still moving forward or has it finally be cancelled? Merkel told Obama, Trump and Biden to fuck off over it, and for all I know Bush 43, too. Presumably Germany really wants/needs this?

Would be kind of weird to see some kind of Ukrainian action against it, at any rate. Would the western media even report on it if something happened?
Germany does, because the fucking retards closed all their nuclear power plants before they had a viable replacement for any of them. And since Germany does not have any Coal reserves and the nearest Coal reserves available are North America (and coal is icky) they went with natural gas. But the nearest natural gas reserves are.....Russia.

So Germany appeased their green party, decommissioned all their nuclear reactors (that produced zero carbon incidentally) and hopped on the Russian dick like it was 1945. Even the French were not this fucking stupid, and ADDED to their nuclear reactors over this same time frame. But not enough that they can power France AND Germany.

The ONLY way Germany can get off Russias dick is to go Nuclear to the same extent as France and Japan. But the absolute retards didn't just decomission their reactors, they DISMANTLED them.

Huh, I mentioned a long time ago in the thread that this would be interesting to watch Russia fight something more than bronze age child molestors.

They haven't really mobilized since Afghanistan, unless you count Syria.

I was wondering about their logistics chains, their second wave, their reserves, and their quick reaction forces.

From the mostly disinformation we've seen, it looks like there's serious problems on the Russian side.

Gonna be really interesting to read the after action reports.

The fucked up thing, is now we see that Afghanistan wasn't a one off.

The Pentagon and the Admin are completely fucking incompetent and retarded.

It's 21:15 in DC.

Question: Are you confident that your President, not his wife or some handler, but your President, is awake, cognizant, and working on dealing with this situation?
With the amount of force they have they should have been pushing into Kiev by now. Now one of two things like someone mentioned earlier maybe they are considering civilian casualties into the push since they need a legit buffer state (I doubt that) or the second, there military is legit incompetent and is having problems pushing into a country.

Either or, Russia's eating it money wise.

ATTENTION KIWI FARMERS!!!
INTERNATIONAL LAW DICTATES THAT THE OWNERS OF THE FOLLOWING ACCOUNTS ARE FAGGOT-NIGGERS:

FURTHERMORE, THE LAW STATES, AND I QUOTE, "THE OWNERS OF THE LISTED KIWI FARMS ACCOUNTS ARE FAT AND NO-ONE WANTS TO, OR IS ALLOWED TO, HAVE SEX WITH THEM DUE TO THEIR SEVERE MENTAL RETARDATION".
YOU. HAVE. BEEN. WARNED!!!

lol calm down

Let’s say Russia, China, and Iran created a mutual security pact/organization called RusChinkRan, and they started actively courting Mexico to join up with them. They send military equipment and all sorts of shit, and it started looking at least somewhat likely that Mexico would join RusChinkRan, how do you suppose the United States would respond?
the mexicans would just sell drugs to the chinks...

I just had a weird thought...

Suppose Ukraine somehow manages to repel this invasion, or at least drag Russia into a messy year long stalemate, destroying their military and what remains of their economy in the process, could that lead to the disintegration of NATO? I'd imagine in that case a lot of countries are going to be asking "Well if the Ukrainians managed to fend off Russia, why are we bothering to pay these dues?"
That's such an unrealistic hypothetical it's not even worth thinking about. It won't happen.

Thread moving at warp speed so this'll get lost, but will echo the sentiment about this being a few days before we know what's exactly happening sort of deal.

A good reference here is Army Group Center's initial encirclement of Soviet forces around Minsk which helped kick off Barbarossa. That offensive operated over similar distances, struck with a similar degree of surprise, and still took over a week to fully effect.

Basically don't expect Russia to completely walk over Ukraine quickly, especially given the supply issues affecting the Germans barely 24 hours into their attack then are also apparently hitting the Russians here (evidenced by the abandoned vehicles in weird locations). Outside of a political resolution this offensive will be lasting through the weekend at minimum.
the problem is that Barbarossa had to cover much more area, Ukraines a fuck load smaller, the capital is already surrounded.
Get your eyes checked. I never said anything about reaction score, I was just pointing out that @Pissmaster has spent way more time on average on the farms in less than 3 years than I have in almost 6.
to be fair a good chunk of that time is him changing PFPs

At this point you have to just assume Russia was lying about their troop numbers and material by a factor of 20x. its sort of insane to still not send all the troops.
I heard there was also weekly launch drills at random times, so if there was a real launch order the silo team wouldn't know until after they killed millions of people.
thats been SOP since the 1950s, its based on how firing squads wouldn't know which had the real bullets and which had blanks. Even Jim Jones did that, people didn't realize it wasn't another training sim until people's bodies started dropping, and that happened roughly 30 minutes after they already drank the poison.
As for people thinking Trump was weak against Putin.....

I love the interaction, its exactly how every white teenager reacted when a hood nigga (FROM QUEENS) said "Do X and imma throw hands". they rarely called the bluff either. its because its the first time in their entire lives no one beat around the bush or did it in a cutsy jokey way "bless your heart takin my chair" "you grow up on a farm" So they're so shocked by someone being so direct and honest they don't react the way they usually do.

it took him almost 24 hours to respond. if i was a country with a real force i'd factor that in, trump would and did respond within minutes.

We’d probably take it as a grave threat to our security and would do almost anything to prevent Mexico from joining. Is that not kind of what’s happening here?
The US would money printer go brrrr and buy Mexico off tbh

So Trump did in fact have a good Administration and Biden has an awful one? Good to know.
Not saying that expressly, but it certainly looks that way, or at least the high-ranking civil servants common to both admins got better direction under the Trump admin.

Yes, it's official. The Russia Today website is down, but I was able to find the story on their mobile app:

Along with a website link for whenever their website comes back up:
https://www.rt.com/russia/550546-zelensky-nato-ukraine-neutrality/

I guess the real question for whether IT'S OVER depends on whether Putin is willing to discuss terms, or if at this stage, he is committed to unconditional surrender.
Their servers seem fucked. Finally got the article text to load on my phone:
The Ukrainian president says Kiev is left to fend for itself as NATO is “afraid” to give Kiev any guarantees

Accusing the West of leaving Ukraine to face Moscow alone, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday he was not afraid to negotiate about ending the Russian “invasion,” but would need security guarantees to do so.

Speaking in the early hours of the morning from Kiev, Zelensky said he had reached out to “partners” in the West to tell them Ukraine’s fate was at stake.

“I asked them – are you with us?” Zelensky said. “They answered that they are with us, but they don’t want to take us into the alliance. I’ve asked 27 leaders of Europe, if Ukraine will be in NATO, I’ve asked them directly — all are afraid and did not respond”

“We were left by ourselves. Who is ready to go to war for us? Honestly, I don’t see anybody. Who is ready to give Ukraine guarantees of NATO membership? Honestly, everybody is afraid,” the Ukrainian president added.

Russia sent troops into Ukraine on Thursday, with President Vladimir Putin declaring a special military operation to “demilitarize and de-nazify” Ukraine. Moscow has since told Kiev that it would consider negotiating with the Zelensky government if it agrees to discuss neutral status for the country, among other things.

In an address on Friday, Zelensky said that he is open to talk about Ukraine’s potential neutral status, but insisted that his country needs third party guarantees.

“We are not not afraid of Russia, we are not afraid to talk with Russia, talk about everything: security guarantees for our country and a neutral status. But we are not in NATO now – what security guarantees will we have? Which countries will give them?” he said, before adding that there should be talks that could bring an end to the Russian military offensive.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that “neutral status and rejection of hosting [offensive] weapons systems” are Putin’s “red lines” for Ukraine and that the ball was now in Kiev's court.

I don't think it will be unconditional surrender, but Russia will absolutely have the advantage in any peace talks. I think Russia's demands will be as follows.

  • Crimea officially transferred to Russia due to it's strategic location
  • Donbas either transferred or given independence
  • A treaty forbidding Ukraine from joining any kind of military international union
Russia will probably offer a time-limited truce agreement in return with the hopes Ukraine will request it be indefinite so Russia can yield that while maintaining the other points.
You don't think they might push for bigger prizes now that the die is cast? What you say is basically a list of what they were demanding pre-war.
When Putin gave his speech that makes reference to "decommunization," he seemed to be insinuating a willingness to at least take back what Lenin gave to Ukraine in 1922.
ukraine timeline map.png

Others are speculating he might take the Lenin bit plus everything his side of the Dnieper, or even more than that to seize all of Kiev and the surrounding area, leaving a small Ukrainian rump state in the northwest. I don't know that I would say that it is probable, but I think this kind of stuff is at least on the table as a possibility. It just depends how far Putin is willing to go. Even if he is not willing to go that far, I would not be terribly surprised if an extreme idea comes out as a start to negotiations, and then they walk back from there to some form of compromise.

No. If you believe half the reports, Russia has been bombing and rocketing multiple areas of Ukraine. With a minor part of their military. This is a limited action and the majority of their staged forces are still on the border. What country in it's right mind would want to let their country turned to rubble for months instead of paying half the required military investment and hiding behind the US?
