Oh, the AAA powerhouse God-tier game that swept the Game Awards after it was released?
Well, the sequel to a critically-acclaimed old-school brawler that pretty much nobody had a bad word to say about, yes. It is a significant and somewhat highly-anticipated game even though clearly not a blockbuster. The inclusion of this message in the credits is quite bizarre.

That river city girls zero game is a game that came out in the 90s in japan under a different name. Wayforward localized it as a prequel because they recently made another game using the two girl characters from this older game. They just added that message in during localization process. That's why they say "this release" instead of "this game". Basically a virtue signal tacked onto a port of a game made almost 30 years ago.

Localization teams that add content to their translations should be forced to sit down with the writers and explain their changes face-to-face.

Just googled it. Looks like a game for faggot weebs and pedophiles.

Anyone who plays that probably has so much CP on their hard drive that it is physically heavier because of it.

So I found this comment on a deviantart post from 16 October 2021 from an account under the name sobodash and considered it worth documenting. https://archive.md/K8gTN.
While I can't comment on the validity of any of these statements (very well may be straight bs or maybe some kind of gayop?) this post seems to be from Derrick Sobodash who has been mentioned in this thread in the past and is a known associate of Byuu. Some of the highlights include:
1) Him claiming to being the one who doxxed byuu's location to the Japanese police the night of his supposed suicide
2) that drugs and hormones were the ultimate cause of the suicide
3) that he contacted Null with this information shortly after.
Anyways complete pile of shit or not I felt it was worth a mention.

Byuu was alive and I was right.

Kiwifarms has shown a document of the obituaries of US expats to Japan, where the emulator Twitter member Byuu was believed to have committed suicide. The document shows there was no person in June who committed suicide in Japan. Ergo, Byuu faked his own death and the fiasco on Twitter that spelled over to FA's forum was unwarranted. I knew that people wanting to go to war with Kiwifarms over this was misplaced. Byuu didn't kill himself and he faked his own death. Some people on FA's forum owe me a big apology. Of course, knowing how cowardly people on there are I don't expect to get one, but I told you so. Way to try to go to war with Kiwifarms over inaccurate intelligence. Sure all you Twitter reactionaries have egg on your face over this now!

People on the forum got out their pitchforks over nothing, a hoax, a farce, but nobody would listen to logic and reason. Nah, let's all be sentimental with crocodile tears and controlled aggressions.

Bottom line: Twitter and Fur Affinity's forum are a bunch of sentimental crocodile cheers woke protectors who will white knight for someone who fakes their own death.
The US Citizen Deaths Overseas database is updated every six months. It says it right on the page. This is why if you search 2021 it only shows deaths in Japan in January-May. It would be surprising that after recording deaths by suicide almost every month, people suddenly stopped killing themselves in May. Isn’t it more likely that it just hasn’t been updated?

Every autistic retard on the Internet has been so eager to use Dave’s death for his own agenda that no one sees the real picture.

This wasn’t about being bullied to death. After his childhood that would make no sense. This was just the sad death of a sick individual who refused to get professional help and instead attempted to self medicate and self mutilate for self-diagnosed problems in some of the most extreme ways imaginable.

Some people see his emails to Joshua Moore and imagine it’s an elaborate master plan to ensnare KF in an extortion scheme. Some people see it as an honest, if foolish, attempt to buy an end to bullying.

If you step back and look at it objectively, the reason it makes no sense is because he was not right in the head and wrote it while swimming on a cocktail of mood altering drugs and hormones he had been taking for months with no medical supervision.

I lost a friend of 20 years. This was the second person at my wedding reception to die. Almost every day I run across something we worked on together or an old joke and I remember the person I shared it with is gone.

When he died, I was the one who had to spend more than an hour on the phone with his husband, listening to him cry as I tried to piece together the last three years since Dave moved to Japan. None of the retards he had surrounded himself with online the last few years even knew he had a husband or how to reach him, so that was a fun experience. None of them even knew his name: I had to dox him in the middle of the night so police could claim the body before he started to rot.

I had to help his husband weigh the options the embassy gave him for dealing with Dave’s remains while having no money after being out of work 16 months, his meager savings wiped out by COVID, no life insurance policies because young people think they are invincible, and no chance at using Dave’s accounts in Japan until after going through probate, which would take months. I listened to him wail about how Dave never said goodbye, never emailed him, and how he earnestly believed he must have written a suicide note that the police would find, and that he probably wrote one to me too.

I knew there wouldn’t be any notes: his head was fried on medicine and nothing he was thinking was normal or made sense.

If you guys end up being right and Dave’s family and I went through all this for a hoax, I will be very hurt and angry. Though to be honest, that wouldn’t be that much different from how I already feel
.
1) Don't make fun of autists on my page.

2)I don't believe a single word of this.

3) If true, ya boi "Dave" as you called him would have attempted to bribe Null with over a thousand dollars to delete a thread about him, very sus indeed.

4) Nobody cares who you are, you're probably some reactionary from Twitter.
I don’t have a Twitter.

I’m sorry you don’t believe a word of this.

Null said the same thing when I attempted to contact him the week after Dave’s death when I had been in contact with the family. I offered him photos of Dave and his husband at my wedding as evidence that I’m probably the only person online who actually knows them both. I had assumed he would dump them on KF and shame me somehow, but he disregarded it. I was contacted by a number of KF users after Dave’s death though. They mistook me for him for a bit but eventually realized I’m just an old fart ROM hacker who knew him.

I will say whatever I want about autists. You can delete and block me since you don’t believe me anyway.
Ironic considering some people bitched on FA's forum about this came from Twitter.

This is all fishy with "Dave" trying to bribe Null.

It doesn't help your case and it only makes you look invalid if you choose to do so. Nobody has sympathy for people who look down upon others. The question is: Why are you here on Deviantart if you're just going to insult people and disregard anyone's suspicions about your claims?
I was googling for Dave this morning because I was thinking about him a lot yesterday. Your post was one of the first that came up.

Many years ago I used to have a blog and I wrote an entry about a childhood experience. In Boy Scouts, I shared a tent with Mike Conat, a kid who two years later would blow off his sister’s head with a shotgun and plot to kill his parents. He was tried as an adult and his case has become a landmark in Michigan juvenile law. But looking at his mug shot I had a hard time remembering him as anything other than the kid who shit his underwear full of diarrhea and left them on the bathroom floor for the scoutmaster to find. I remember he threatened to make everyone try them on if no one owned up to doing it.

Two years after I wrote that, Mike’s sister’s best friend replied. She had been googling for her friend, and my words struck a nerve because while I only saw the boy who shit his pants she saw the man who took away her best friend.

The experience of a random person finding another random person online when searching one day for a dead friend always stuck with me.

You have a small blog on DeviantArt and I have been wanting to say something about what happened with Dave for months. I feel better telling one person about his end even if they don’t believe me.

It would have been nice if you did, but I’m glad you at least heard what I had to say. I miss Dave being around and I always run across things we worked on together. I am not sure what I’ll ever be able to complete or release, but it’s weird knowing that’s all that’s left of him.

I hope you find whatever you need to find to put your theories about Dave to rest. The day after he died and the denial stories began, my brother and sister-in-law were being hassled at work by KF users trying to track down any connections to Dave. My brother said Dave just became the Tupac of the Internet: I feel kind of sad that’s proven true.

If we hit January and there is no record in that database of an American citizen killing himself in July, I’m going to be even more hurt.

The second people sent me photos of his Twitter, I knew something terrible had happened. Dave was the most private person I have ever known, and even all the people he was associating with at the time of his death did not know his name.

He had to know that someone would contact me and ask what was going on, and I would immediately dox him to get the police involved. If he was just trying to burn an identity, as he had tried before, I am sure he would have contacted me to say, “Hey, whatever crazy shit you see the next month, do not under any circumstances dox me. Trust me. I will contact you eventually.” It wouldn’t be the first time.

I think I would have trusted him. In his own words, I had known him longer than anyone alive excluding his own mother, who he cut off contact with after running away from home in 1999. Many years more than his husband.

If Dave is alive, that means one of two things:

Both Dave and his husband lied to me, and his husband isn’t that clever by half.
Alternatively, Dave lied to both of us, paid someone in the embassy to call his husband, and then fleeced him out of his funerary costs while knowing what financial hardship he was in (supporting three nephews who he loves like his own children).

That is so evil. I cannot imagine that being the actions of someone I have known and trusted for so long. If Dave does turn up alive, I am going to be very upset because after 20 years I didn’t know him.

It’s hard to say how much you can ever really know someone. Dave appears to have lied to his husband about his intentions with trying to transition. He was advised by the people online who were mailing him hormones of how he could find a doctor and pay him cash after hours to have his testicles removed. No psychological screening necessary. No record. His husband took him for that surgery and told me how scared he was, but he trusted Dave and believed him that it wasn’t about gender reassignment. And after he left for Japan he was getting all these hormones and mood-altering drugs handed to him by random people online and medicating himself with no supervision.

Knowing what that kind of medication does to people’s stability and ability to think rationally, I believe that was the cause of his incredibly irrational behavior in contacting Joshua Moon on the night of his death. His total lack of fear about me doxxing him is another red flag to me that he was sick and not thinking.

Maybe January will roll around and I’ll be wrong, but that won’t be any easier to live with.
though not updated, they still have files on them for records for those asking for them. This is needed for things like tax updates, Next of Kin notifications, other legal stuff

We can't verify any of this but I would argue it sounds more plausible than Hector's bullshit and instantly jumping on the Farms as the culprit. It wouldn't surprise me too much if byuu's troon buddies wanted to cover up the fact that they might have been indirectly (or directly) responsible for his death by encouraging him to self-medicate with hormones and shit, and who better to shift the blame onto than a forum Twitter is already predisposed to screech at whenever a troon cries bully?

The spaz is confused. The database is updated to the end of June:

There were no reported suicides in Tokyo, and there should have been if the Near suicide wasn't a hoax. The only reason the March update is interesting is because some denialists hoped the report came in late for the last update.

As for the rest of the Deviant Art bullshit: the suicide is a myth. Like every myth, believers are going to keep making up their own versions - like the supposed photo of the dangling corpse that vanished from history when the hoaxers realised there was a contradicting photo of the "noose". They're making this shit up as they go along.

It was for a third party game named River City girls zero
Oh so it's the gamethat's being localized and marketed as a "river city girls prequel" game when it's ACTUALLY just that one "river city" game for SNES that they never fucking released stateside till now. The kinda thing that'd normally just show up on the SNES classics sub service thing on switch butisn'tbecauselegal reasons and framing it asa "new game"?

Yeah thats skeevy as FUCK lmao the connections and rot run deep here. as the funny orangebut not really orange guy would say, sad!

Agree except the bit about not being able to verify any of it; the post did put two new people into the equation, and one of them doesn't seem to be an internet freakazoid.
Specifically Byuu's husband.
My memory may be hazy in this regard given how long it has been but I'm pretty sure it was just confirmed he was the husband, but more importantly did not seem to be involved.

If this story was floated without the husband's involvement, that would have some extremely funny outcomes, and I wouldn't put it past the troon brigade to do so.
At the very least the husband has potential to be a real source of information since if I remember the dox correctly he's not exactly a terminally online brokebrain.

In a shocking twist, the game offers two different translations you can choose between: "Literal" and "New"...although they got backlash from localizers for the choice of names and will be changing it to "Original" and "RCG".

In their half-defense (I really do hate the name "River City Girls Zero" for it) they've been pretty upfront about it being an old SNES game and if it HAD appeared on the SNES Classics service, it wouldn't be translated. So not exactly skeevy.

Sorry to get slightly off topic but y'all were jumping to some pretty wild conspiracies there. It IS interesting that the game is dedicated to Byuu though of all things.

Japanese cannot be literally translated into English. In my opinion it’s not even possible.

You know the King James bible? That’s basically a literal translation of the bible, except conventionalized to fit into English grammar (normalizing tenses, plurals, etc.). You can’t even do that with Japanese. It’s just too different from English.

So basically every localized thing from Japan has to take some artistic license to even be comprehensible to English-speakers. Officially translated things often get criticized for changing too much while fan translations get their dick sucked, but they essentially do the same thing.

To add to that, Japanese is just more compact as a language when it is written out. You can fit more story into a cartridge compared to English, so old localizations where space was at a premium often skipped out on things.

You're right but I'd dare go further: no language can be literally translated into any other language. Especially in a medium as complex as gaming, which is why we speak of videogame localization instead of videogame translation. Anyone who bitches about how a game was changed in the process of bringing it to a different region or language is a retard.

There's lot to criticize about the retro gaming scene, be it in regards to Byuu or just the large chunk of obsessive autists who are into those games in general, but whether an old game got its name changed to be released in the 21st century is not one of them. Hell, this isn't even the first game to do that. Game franchises like Mother and Final Fantasy had similar issues where the first game released in Japan was not the first game released in the USA and subsequent releases suffered a bit of a title confusion in the West. And guess what? Those franchises are still immensely popular in the west, so it's obviously not that big of a deal.

You can literally translate any language into another. Japanese aren't like fucking space-aliens . "DIRECT" translations with just the words can break grammatically but it's literally as simple as fixing that shit to be proper. When you don't tak the time to fix the grammar it becomes like the fucking weird half assed NES translations. You can still do a "direct" translation and keep the tone and vibe and shit the same.
Also this is nothing like the MOTHER games localized name structure. the NES game was originally titled EARTHBOUND but then when EARTH BOUND came out it was marked as the same game for a bit despite blatantly being a different game. To differentiate them when the OG english version leaked online they started calling it "earthbound zero" and after nintendo realizedyears laterpeople were just pirating the unreleased english version of that game and STARFOX 2, they proceeded to officially release them finally, something that required not that much effort because the games were already made and ready to go. Thiswouldbe likeif they releasedSTARFOX 2: and called it "SLIPPY'S AIR RIDE 2!" or some shit. The "title confusion"doesn't even apply here it's a fucking alteration of the name of a over 20 year old sequel within the normal game series being marketed as a sequel/prequel to a modernized spinoff game with a huge ad campaign about it being that despite it clearly not be in, and people are incredibly misinformed about the actual game's nature as a result. It's like a weirdly larger scale bizarro world version of Nintendo's case with earthbound but also nothing like thatcaseat all because not even nintendo put that much effort in to try and frame mother 2 as a port of mother.

Officially translated shit of the past several years gets flak for going and claiming to be accurate but then out the other mouth doing shit like change an entire fucking plot heavy sequence to "..." and half the dialogue into unrelated memes. It's also mainly only the english based ones that do this shit nowadays, and there's usually a region locked "direct translation" that isn't as broken people compare the nightmare world "translations" with.

Sometimes I wish I ccould just understand literally every fucking language so I don't have to deal with the bullshit alterations to media people defend. Doesn't only go for japanese stuff but that's one of the ones people always talk about, probably because of how entangled american and japanese pop cultures are with each other.

Weebs who play shit pedo games should just learn Japanese. It isn't hard. Took me about a year to have zero problems in daily life. I've lived in Japan for 21 years now.

You can translate anything in one language into any other language. It's just if it sounds weird or not. Like, there's phrases in Japanese that you don't have in English, and when people attempt to force-translate something, it just sounds dumb. Jap phrases like よろしくお願いします, お疲れ様です, or ごちそうさま in English sound fucking retarded.

Weebs are trash and just Language-LARP anyway desu.
