World of Warcraft

Ouch, that's some view/like ratio, right there.

Yeah, it's getting ratio'd hard.

I knew it was going to be bad, but this... this is bad and boring. We've done this song and dance before! Arthas basically getting disenchanted after the Anduin fight was at least funny, this is just... I guess I'm impressed by how boring it is.
April 19th is gonna be another barrel of laughs. This is truly their last chance, if they fuck the next expansion up we're finally gonna bury this corpse.

Did they actually redeem Arthas? Idk about that.
His soul was forged into Anduin's sword. After the fight Sylvanas goes on about how evil and shitty he was and his wisp just... floats away.

Both Uther and Jaina are present, but obviously Sylvanas gets all the screentime. You can just feel Danuser jerking himself off while you watch this.

If Sylvanas wasn’t so terrible I’d have agreed with that. I actually agree with people who say the calls to redeem Arthas are horribly misplaced.

The one time WoW respects a popular villain’s agency enough to not wipe away their misdeeds and it’s shitty.

2018 Blizzard: "Fuck you, we're number one."
2022 Blizzard: "Fuck you, we're getting sold to Microsoft"

Wait, what? Why is Varyian a ghost in the Shadow Lands, shouldn't he have been mulched to feed nature, mind wiped by the Greeks, or turned into a zombie warlord? As far as I know he wasn't killed by some agent of the Shadow Lands that would give his soul to the Jailer to turn into whatever but died to a random group of demons so he'd just end up in the afterlife like, especially since it happened before Argus who fucked up the whole machine of death.

Also, fuck Sylvanas, I used to think she was one of the better characters so was happy when they put her in charge of the Horde, and I really didn't care that she was going around burning shit down because let's face it Garrosh did nothing wrong either. Though that being said they fucked up her character and the random "whoops, you have a soul now" is not a redemption arc, bitch should be in some random Shadow Lands dungeon chained to wall.

The only thing scarier than Sargeras is a bigger and meaner Sargeras, with two world piercing swords... Maybe he'll even be the guy from Starcraft because a game about space wars and politics needed to be a love story with Zerg Sargeras.
This would put the pg rating of the game in doubt, but what if the next big bad has this planet sized cock that he uses to literally fuck Azeroth to death?

With how raid bosses are going the final fight would be us trying to get a condom on the cock in time before it goes in, players having to spread out to stretch it to size, with Magni yelling at us that it's about to break if we don't keep lubing it. Then a random space laser trinket kills the bad guy again like we saw with N'zoth and Death Wing.

Can't wait for the next expansion so that we can kill yet another villain-but-not-actually-a-villain who's just trying to stop an unnamed evil. Maybe C'thun will get his own redemption arc, too.

But not before another character is corrupted. Again. Because they've literally ran out of characters to do this to.

If the developers had any balls, they'd make the next expansion take place in Irvine, California. Heroes old and new join forces to wrest the game from the laughably incompetent gaggle of retards intentionally steering the franchise into an iceberg that was in the first place about a million miles from the game's course a decade ago. Will the flying dutchman make it to 20?

I'm impressed at how WoW, a fantasy universe that was essentially designed to be "somewhat generic but distinct and maellable" has, under truly visionary guidance, become capable only of ripping itself off. With all the tools they now have to tell an actual story, it's remarkable that the general plotlines and worldbuilding of the first three iterations manage to be more consistent and interesting - despite being told in far clunkier, awkward ways.

Garrosh was cool and got no redemption. Hell, he nuked his own spirit saying he'd do it all again.

A big issue with WoW is they're too afraid to make it an actual war and they're too stupid to figure out a very simple solution for how to make content without requiring the factions to unify. I liked Garrosh, a lot, because he was just an asshole willing to go to war and actually used resources very wisely like Blackfuse to make incredible war machines. Sylvanas was great in a different way because as we saw in WC3 she was the leader that used manipulation and subterfuge very well, which is a fine enough contrast to Garrosh who is much more blunt, but then they made her into a retard.

Now I mentioned there's a way to make content without a world ending evil that unifies the factions as every expansion has done so far, and that way doesn't involve complex technology like Dazar'Alor did which has the raid in a different order with different bosses depending on your faction. That method being that content can be made with a focus of expansion for new and/or critical resources. They've touched on this before, but never in any amazing way as everything is always kept neutral, but what's the difference between a raid where it's a big bad guy planning to end the world and one where there's just something both factions want you're just there to plunder it?

It's also interesting to point out that something like Onyxia from Vanilla had a great design in terms of story, in that the Alliance had this big thing with her manipulating them and while she didn't have the same impact on the Horde they still had reason to want to kill her as she was a general pest. There wasn't a need to come together and fight this evil dragon to save the universe, it was just that she fucked with the kingdom of Stormwind for the Alliance and she was a threat to the Horde. Her story was also explored throughout the game and each faction had a long quest chain to access her giving players an idea of why she mattered. Sure, it mattered more to the Alliance than the Horde, but you can always come up with other stuff down the line to even it out.

Edit: And they even gave Horde their spot with the Blackrock Mountain and Nefarian as he was fucking with the Horde's roots thanks to Rend Blackhand as well as gathering potential old allies of the Horde into his bullshit. Again, notice how Onyxia was important to the Horde because she's right next to Org and important to the Alliance because she was fucking with their society, well Nefarian was closer to Stormwind in location but fucking with the Horde society. Neither Onyxia nor Nefarian were part of some world ending plot but both were doing some bullshit that could become a problem and pissed off the largest factions in the game.

No, they were brought back in Cata to be part of the world ending bullshit instead, after two expansions of world ending bullshit.

And fuck, they had the ability to make players race change in Vanilla, while exploring it more in TBC with things like the Caverns of Time. Why can't they just release story shit that alternates the raid by faction and just has them race swap back then to experience it? You don't need every raid to be that, but you can have some to keep the fucking story from always being "we're at war, oh no evil space aids, we're friends now but only until evil space aids is cured."

The next xpac should be that the scattered souls of the dead return to the living and Garrosh, Grommash, Saurfang, all the dead horde leaders go to war with Uther, Arthas, Varian. I had mental imagery of this situation and it would be a major call back to WC3. This xpac is where the disgruntled Modern Horde and Alliance are forced to go to war with these new factions due to old bonds/grudges and support from the citizens. The cinematic would be a badass armor up scene when Garrosh meets his dad and Uther and Arthas does a bro fist bump and shit. Finally they all charge at each other in a wartorn battlefield where it's less gay than the BFA cinematic.

For the people saying that Sylvana's had not done anything truly evil in WOTLK, didn't she order the Wrathgate attack?
