There's having supid headcanons... And then there's trying to get your headcanon shit published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Why would you submit your dumb headcanons to a journal? I don't think most people would want to read about TV characters being dmab chunky genderpunks.

Stay safe watching your anime, guys. There are people saying they are dropping the show entirely because of this post without even watching the episode in question. Sadly not the first time I saw this happen.
Osomatsu-san is an unabashedly crude show, especially for an anime, that has featured dudes getting piss-drunk, public nudity, shitting on tables, sexual harassment, murder, and a guy ripping his own ballsack off.

Fantards on Tumblr have ignored this up until now because they want to fantasize about the brothers having gay incestuous sex.

You could've very well started a betting pool for how many episodes it'd take for them to get pissed off.

Literally murdering trans people.

They're in fandom studies.

Fandom studies.

Seems like a show I'd enjoy...

That's an actual thing? Really? This is what these people's parents pay their college tuition for?

What a waste of money.

To be fair, she's not subitting her headcanons outright.
She wants to submit a paper about how tumblr headcanons are super important and revolutionary and interrogate our perspectives on fiction yadda yadda.

She's a bit of a personal lolcow of mine because she takes fndom spergery further than most:

I figured it was something mild.

Are you serious about the fandom studies?

Didn't want to double post.

That's still embarrassing.

How does one get into fandom studies? Is it a part of a Communications degree or is it it's own thing?

From what I'm aware of vaguely, "fandom studies" is basically people using fandom shit in academia. It's mildly controversial (for a very autistic definition of controversial) because a lot of people do not really appreciate other people using their fanfiction/fanart/etc. as part of a study. Generally speaking, people do fandom stuff for the enjoyment of themselves and those they share interests with, and they don't always appreciate having it psychoanalyzed. People tend to especially have issues with it when it's academia sticking its nose into fandom, but even fandom finding its way into academia can cause issues. Though Tumblr is probably more okay with it than past fandom incarnations, given their tendency to politicize fucking everything.

(That said, HPMoR is total shit. It's like a preachy religious version of Harry Potter for the fedora crew.)

Those anarchists are just ridiculous. You know darn well that they'll preach all day about how terrible cops are, but if they were ever in trouble they'd immediately call 911 wanting help.

Also they have this stupid picture.

Why does Tumblr always make the absolute dumbest analogies? If people actually went to a bar, they wouldn't vote on what beer to get, they just get what they want anyway.

And even then, if they want to make he argument that, "oh we should all just do whatever makes us happy" that'll fall apart as soon as the first two guys order a beer, and the third guy decides killing the first two will make him happy.

Their crummy analogies might sound brilliant in their heads, but fall apart with even the slightest bit of thought.

That's an unbelievably retarded analogy. Decided what beer you should drink =/= deciding the government for a sizable group of people. The former is a decision that won't affect anyone else except for you while the latter is a decision that affects everyone.

I remember when Myspace was really popular, I would browse their groups because I was bored and lonely. The anarchy group on there was hilarious as fuck. Half of the posts on there were non anarchists telling them that anarchy was stupid and it won't work and them getting pissed in return. Also they would claim that rape would cease to exist if anarchy existed. Even as a young teen, I knew this was bullshit.

It really annoys me when Tumblrinas talk about their headcanons as if they're incredibly important and socially relevant, even though it's painfully obvious that they're just getting off on them. This one says that this is some important statement about trans issues, but she just makes it obvious that she flicks the bean to the idea of gay, trans werewolves. People on Tumblr are incredibly transparent about the way they use social issues to justify their creepy fetishes.
