I doubt most people know because these are dark and depressing examples of humanity who need to be identified and disposed of with as little fanfare as possible to let normal people get on with their lives. There's nothing funny or entertaining about it, if someone is genuinely an active child predator then either shoot them or report them to police and forget they exist.

This video is proof regular people shouldn't be hunting these guys down like vigilantes. Someone could have easily been killed/severely injured as a result of this dipshit antagonizing the fuck out of someone who was very clearly on drugs, handicapped, or otherwise unfit to be driving a vehicle. The proper reaction would be to call the police and report the guy for trying to drive when he's obviously impaired.

I'm not saying these videos aren't entertaining in some respect, but there are real consequences hidden behind the theatrics. What happens after they're done busting one of these people? Are the police getting involved? Or is the predator's face in the thumbnail of a 100k YouTube video "punishment"? And why are these channels selling merch and begging for donations?

To Catch a Predator was a network-funded TV show and even it got into hot water. It also resulted in a non-zero amount of predators walking away charge-free because the network was too focused on making an entertaining show instead of catching predators via proper/legal means. Lol.

I think it only got in hot water because during one of their stings they had caught a government official who had killed himself in his vehicle upon realizing what was happening. Then all the other child molesting people in the government realized 'shit that could have been me' and shut the show down with pressure etc.

It's scummy that these people are profiteering off of this but on the other hand it also reminds us that there are plenty of people preying on children both online and offline, the internet just fucking streamlined the process and gave pedophiles a much larger safety net and anonymity with which to operate, nullified only by their eternal stupidity and lust. It's also a lovely reminder that anything can and will be monetized and/or commodified with enough incentive and a good angle. Catching and exposing some of the worst of society is just another hustle now.

I fucking hate society.

Bonus question: Has Chris ever actually caught any female offenders? They definitely exist but I can't recall him ever catching one of those.
