TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A large-scale fight involving at least one adult caused a lockdown at a school in Tucson on Tuesday, May 3.

The Tucson Police Department said officers were called to Tucson High by the Tucson Unified School District.

The TPD said investigators believe the fight started when a man showed up on campus during a lunch break. The TPD said a least one person was detained, there were no reported injuries and no weapons involved.

The district said all students and staff are safe and the campus returned to normal operations. TUSD did say that “some safety restrictions, including continued School Safety and TPD presence, (will continue for) the remainder of the day and week.”

Several videos posted online show a very large fight with at least 30 people involved.

I don't care about my age, but I do care about keeping personal information on this site to a minimum. I like to be nice and vague, just in case. I also lie a lot to make myself harder to identify. But I wasn't lying about my age.

Kids in my elementary school used to have fights like that. Yes, this was in a "diverse" school.

Makes me wonder how often slaves used to just brawl.

Parents, the best gift you can give your kid is a mostly white or East Asian school or homeschool.

I never once saw East Asian kids brawl.

Me either. It was always the redneck boys or girls fighting over a girl or guy.

I stopped a few times in Tuscon, Ar, last time was in early 2000s
And I always thought Tuscon and all of Arizona was mostly white and there was a small percentage of black people
So, I was pretty damn surprised how many black people I saw in the video.

I'm a decadish younger than you are and we had the same fighting rules. No weapons, no dogpiling. These kids today! Smdh

Getting close to 40, and I didn't see fights like this until I moved to a bigger city. Fights used to be two kids punching/wrestling or just going feral on each other, while a bunch of other kids made a circle around the two to watch until teachers showed up to break it up. And one of the things I loved was there was no fence around the high-school, while there was at the elementary and middle-school. If you wanted to walk off campus and go to the corner store for lunch, you could, some kids lived close and literally walked home for lunch and were back in time for the next class.

When I went to a bigger school for my last few years of high-school; there were fences, locked gates, constant hall monitors to include uniformed police on campus at all times. Fights always had diversity students, and the moment one started punching, all his homeboys or hombres would jump in against whoever the poor fool on the other side was; if they were diversity it'd just be a massive fucking brawl while everyone else just kinda stood around and watched. My first culture shock about diversity Americans, when I was still young, naive, and still had those "one race" type beliefs.

Graphic? Only in the sense that there were videos. Despite the larger scale, this was a pretty tame encounter. High school fights always start over something stupid, like someone “talking shit” or over some broad. Given the fact that everyone has to get their phone out when something happens, this exacerbates things.

2 people are chimping out. Suddenly, 40 people rush over to them with their cell phones, potentially colliding into each other. My mom had sex with six different guys to buy me this iPhone that you just made me drop, and now I’m going to shove you. Things escalate further. More people are shoved, more fighting incurs. Some folks are just chaotic evil (see: based) and will take advantage of the situation by attacking people. People have the mentality of “why not - won’t catch us all!”

Schools are afraid to get LEOs involved because they fear lawsuits. You saw the campus security doing absolutely nothing in those videos, and rightfully so. They’re getting paid beans. Get officers in there and mace literally everyone in the crowd.

When I was in school, when two kids would fight, people would encircle around them to shield them from staff so they could duke it out. Nokia phones were uncommon, and most mobile devices didn’t have cameras. The only time things got out of hand was once someone forfeit the fight, and they would get attacked by multiple people. School staff had pepper spray on hand and it was great to see the tough kids squealing if it got in their eyes.

My feelings at the same age, brother. Even though I turn 67 in a couple of months, I refuse to grow up. Case in point? Farts are still funny!

Someone mentioned thinking Arizona was pretty much white. It is. Low percentage of blacks. (In Arizona in 2020, 31.9% of the total population was Hispanic, 53.8% were white, 4.6% were black, 3.9% were American Indian/Alaska Native and 3.7% were Asian/Pacific Islander.) For the most part, they're concentrated in certain areas of both Phoenix and Tucson. Not so much in rural areas like much of the south. The Hispanics are the primary gangbangers here, not the blacks like say, Chicago.

As for the Tucson fight, typical shit these days. Somebody probably dissed somebody so of course, their whole posse jumps in to deliver an asswhoopin'. And yes, that shit never happened back in my day. Two guys would go at it behind the school and when one was clearly the winner, the crowd would pull them apart and make them shake hands. It was over then and there and school life went back to normal. It's how shit got settled, no guns, no knives, no gang beatings, or sucker punch beat downs and kicking the shit out of somebody once he was down.

I couldn't be a kid today. Lot of ruthless little bastards out there.

30 kids is hardly a large scale school fight... Make it 100+ and now we're talking, among those hundred there are older brothers, fathers and uncles with knives and bats that drove there as fast as they can after they got the call.

California is only 6% black but somehow they dominate a lot of the attention.
