Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

  • πŸ• I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Jim's collection of corsets and blouses look like something a teenager would wear to a Vampire the Masquerade LARP that they know will end in stains.
I was in the official Camarilla LARP; no, not even the least self respecting noob would have worn that. I can testify as I was one of those noobs with no self respect at the time.

Even without trooning out, the downfall was inevitable. His only content is him yelling about issues, and there is only so far that kind of aggressive style will last. At a certain point original fans walk away because they get to a point they don't want to be yelled at anymore, and it's hard bringing in new fans when they are all teens and you are their fathers age.
He just isn't very marketable, but becoming Stephanie has made him less so marketable.

Still he is making 12k a month plus whatever else he has going on so unless he is incredibly fiscally irresponsible, he will be fine.

Can he just fucking 41 already please? What the fuck is he thinking. Just because you have the body of a fat lesbian doesn't mean you need to dress like one. Disgusting. What happened to the days where you didn't immediately know someone was a tranny because they at least tried to look like a woman, and not some fat incel nerds weird fetishistic fantasy?

His patreon numbers are declining steadily too. Considering that most Youtubers get their neetbux from superchats and Patreon this is the one that's probably keeping him up more. He can always chalk up the loss of subscribers as "hateful bigots fucking off" or something like that, but these are actual paypigs leaving.

His Patreon has intrigued me for a while now, too. I don't really track any one else's but is it normal for it to drop precipitously, rise back up about halfway then drop again?

Cause right now Jim's is so consistent it looks like a fucking staircase.

Sure can't wait for the next special episode of the Jimquisition! He's going to tell us all over again how not mad he is about transphobes unsubbing, I'm elated.
What I'm imagining is going through Jim's head right now:

To that end it's worth noting that "James STEPHANIE Sterling" has recently gotten a name-drop in The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe - one of the recent fads in streamer/lets play content - for the glowing review Jim Sterling did of the original game. You might have expected this publicity from such an acclaimed title to translate into an increased sub-count, but it seems he's just too obnoxious for new viewers to stomach. Leveraging it into clout to push at the likes of Kotaku and so on would also be a smart move for Jim if he wanted to repair the various industry connections he's damaged and lost over the years, if only for the good sense of mutual job security.
From what I've found he doesn't seem to have bothered much beyond some basic ego-stroking however.
I groaned and almost wanted my money back when I saw that they changed his name. Pretty ironic too if you played that part of the the Ultra Deluxe edition. The narrator goes down memory lane literately and laments how the Ultra Deluxe edition is just not the same and will never be as good as the original and that it shouldn't be changed in anyway.

What sent Jim down this path?
Believing his own hype. He betrayed himself as this bad ass game reviewer who takes down scummy game studies so hard he started to believe that's what he was in real life. A shocker to people like Jim, being a game reviewer is the complete opposite of badass and YouTube rantsona tactics don't translate in real life. People like Jim go through a downward spiral of doubleing-down every time they get any push back. Thinking that will some how convince people of something their not or of an opinion they have. Lets not forget he had some pretty tone deaf game reviews (I.E. He thought sonic 4 was good) before fighting Digital Homicide Studios and far before him trooning out.

I enjoyed "Jim" for talking about the absolute state of video game development for the time. I haven't watched him since the complete transformation of the persona and that didn't initially change my viewing habits either. He was outcast for not preaching "the message" and created a good platform to call out accurate and terrible video game publisher antics. The "thank God for me" was a humorous bit early on, but when it went to his head and started shifting away from video games, I checked out. I was still subscribed to him because I forgot until I saw the happenings pin today, so thanks for that reminder to cleanup my subscription list.

God fucking damn it some people are so cucked.

Like I get it if its a new game, yer I guess you should use Jims chosen name, but editing a 9 year old game to make a fatman in a dress not feel bad (which to give Jim credit, I don't think he would get angry if they didn't change that) is fucking clown shoes.

What if Jim changes his mind and gets a new silly name or even de-transitions? Can we get a mandatory day-1 patch?
It's okay, we'll always have the fat retard magic merchant man from Mr. Maze:

I am not too deep into Patreon graphs either, but from the few graphs I've seen the end of month blips are completely normal, but for healthy Patreons those usually climb back up by where they were by the end of the month.

Agreed with Bovinian, the beginning-of-month crater is fairly normal for patreon. Though I'm amused that the remaining paypigs are upping their spend a bit.
