It really isn't that fucking hard to realize that when people sub to a gaming channel, they want to see content about gaming, not about the Host's sexuality. Jim could keep the style with less thirstbaiting and talk more about what people come to the channel for and he wouldn't be bleeding subscribers, but of course I'm not as knowledgeable as this fucking idiot that keeps losing subscribers!
We've endlessly speculated about all the ways Jim could turn his channel around, but the reality is he absolutely hates what he does on YouTube so he'll never make the effort required to fix things.
Besides, the game has changed, there are already infinitely more likeable people picking up Jim's slack and doing his job better than him (subscribe to Spawn Wave).

Imagine being a gamer, and out of nowhere in between your Vtuber clip compilations and Scott the Woz videos finding a repulsive fat fuck genderblob dressed with a dog collar and ball gag ranting about big anime boobas, I would not only unsubscribe but also report, click never show again and delete my youtube history so that fat fuck never clogs my feed again. At least that's what happened to me.
He comes so close to selfconsciousness, at two different points in this video. The first is when he's standing next to some rocks and shouts "abortion! Yeah!" before realising he's in a public place and people can hear him. This prompts him to remember, even if only briefly, that abortion is actually quite an embarrassing thing to be publicly in favour of - especially when expressed without euphemisms like "women's rights" (which Jim would never use because all genders can get pregnant) and "choice" (which he could have used, but it doesn't seem on brand for Sterling).
The second is when he's criticising that awful corporate diversity chart and trying to rationalise why his group's ideas for how diversity should work are nothing like that. He overfocuses on the lack of humanity in the process, rather than tackle the assumption that such "diverse" characters are seemingly a necessity above all else.
For all that Jim and his ilk like to moan about this, they sure do reinforce it whenever they can. This is probably is unintentional on their part, but if 'white' or 'cisgender' were really considered as identities in the same way that 'Black' or 'transgender' are, instead of simply being seen as the lack of an identity, then representing those identities would be seen to hold value.
Even if (as they almost all believe) the market is oversaturated with white and male characters, the implication would be that, if it weren't, then representing those characters would seen to be important in the same way for reasons of diversity.
So if they truly and honestly believed these groups aren't quote-unquote "the default", then at least some of them would be UNIRONICALLY sperging about all-Black casts lacking racial diversity, or that there aren't enough white people in Bollywood. And any game where all the playable characters are women needs a few cismen to balance out the roster.
INB4 'that's what our side says', because when people do complain about the lack of cis, straight, white and/or male representation in media, it's usually done for reasons of real-world accuracy, authenticity to source material, or accusations that the other groups were included for the sake of diversity (which is an easy accusation to land when so many companies admit to doing this).
Even when Jim admits "forced diversity" is being being forced into games and other media that would otherwise have no need of it, he still calls it "bigoted whining" when other people point this out instead of saying their complaints are actually justified. Because of course, it's only bad because these companies are so undiverse in the first place that forcing such a thing becomes a necessity! Instead, they should just be writing diverse stories, designing diverse characters, without having to put any additional effort to do so!
And what is Jim's preferred way of achieving this utopia? He says "Fucking pay a diverse range of people to fucking work for you, you goddamn fucking cretins!!!!" without any understanding that any company attempting to do this would have to break out a diversity measuring tool just like the one Jim's complaining about, only now with staff members instead of characters. He also thinks promoting the right groups of people into leadership roles so that they can influence game design will somehow solve the problem (even going as far as reel off a list of their desired identities).
Again, he declares this apparent gospel truth in complete ignorance of the fact that doing so would involve heavily promoting people based on their identity, rather than their level of competence or suitability to the role.
The sad part is that he doesn't even seem to be arguing this in bad faith. If anything, he legitimately thinks it's easy to create development teams full of "trans, disabled, queer, Black, Asian, fat, thin" people, etc. without going as far as to preferentially hire any of these groups, meaning that he just flat-out assumes these groups are being deliberately excluded.
But it should come as no surprise to you that Jim Sterling thinks fat, trans, queer and/or disabled people live such miserable fear-filled lives, are hated by everyone, and fail to achieve anything because of it. How else would he explain his own failures?
