I wasn't thinking about the suspended sentence. What I suspect might happen is they'll get tipped off by Cog and his friend about the stream, watch it, and then Ralph might get in trouble since he started the fight and didn't de-escalate. But who knows how Lisbon cops handle this shit?

I think it's more that "human suffering" is a phenomenon that exists on this planet. Whether it's ralph, or Cog, or you or me, it's real. And sometimes you can just feel it in an image.

The image of Ralph with the middle fingers, fat out, bleeding in the street, that's an image that resonates deeply with me. It's modern art. That shit could go in a fucking exhibit right now in some Portugese exhibition.

As disgusting as it is, as goofy as those white socks and purse are, whatever sins Ralph has done in his life, there is something almost beautiful about those middle fingers and the sheer defiance of saying, "I am here, I am grotesque, I am bleeding, my fat is rolling around in the street, and I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks."

Ralph was made to look so pathetic in this fight. Him sitting on the ground like a fat baby is funny, though. I'm not sure what the law is in Portugal, but if Ralph really wanted to waste money in a foreign court, I think Dan might be in trouble. He came back to the Gunt several times to fight. The initial beating was justified since Ralph was getting in their face, but everything after that is dubious, in my opinion. Again, I don't know Portuguese law but this is my best guess.
