Apparently, he likes to go running, biking, and hiking on mountains; and I can only think that this type of surgery will likely end such a hobby in a short time since the dude just had major surgery done to his pelvic region. I believe any kind of surgery to the pelvic region will severely weaken the structure in some manner and make it more likely to break, especially since it was altered to just be wider. To me it seems counterproductive to shut down all criticism, scientific research and investigative journalism about the dangers of SRS. Wouldn't it be better for transpeople at large if the procedures were improved? How will they be improved if no one is allowed to question them, "out" incompetent surgeons, or to discourage people getting procedures that will fail and/or give them lackluster results?
I don't recall many women with breast implants going berserk when the dangers of breast implants became big news. They didn't try to shut down all discussion of this by calling it "misogyny" or "anti-woman bigotry". They generally appreciated the warnings, had their implants replaced if necessary, got mammograms and other preventative medical procedures to promote their health. Women who seek to get implants, (with some sense of intelligence) including those who need reconstructive surgery post breast cancer, try to find legit sources of information so they can avoid complications. It's good to know what the difference is between "above muscle" vs "below muscle" implants. It's good to know what "capsular contracture" is. It should not be considered "triggering" to be informed of the risks, it's a common sense thing one has to do. It should be considered normal to be anxious about the possibilities of what could go wrong, and to prepare for them.
Same thing goes for birth control. Women are willing to hear about the potential dangerous side effects of certain types of birth control without accusing the critics of "misogyny". We generally know that taking hormonal medications can possibly f--- us up, and we appreciate when we are warned. I see parallels between birth control and trans medications.
