I think something like this (maybe not quite as restrictive) may be a useful compromise. I don't like the 'no post' rules or closed registration because sometimes people join because they have something useful and interesting to say on a topic (rarely, I know)- or because they know something about a cow or are connected to them IRL.

It's a shame to throw up walls against that.

I agree in principle, but if you're talking about new people shitting up the site faster than they can be assimilated vs the rare instances where someone joins specifically to say something vitally important and time-critical, I think the former is far more important.

Plus people of interest get verified on a regular basis anyway. I can't imagine fast-tracking such people into full posting privileges at the same time would change that process significantly or make it an undue burden.

The teacher was shocked and treated me like an idiot and repeatedly told me Id never get a job because of it.

The other thing is that there is this weird belief nowadays that 'everyone had a digital footprint'. I've heard this garbage spouted countless times and people believe it like its the fucking bible. One of my favorite things ever is telling people to google my name then watch their faces as nothing comes up. Ive had several people accuse me of giving them a fake name bEcAuSe EveRyOnE hAs A dIgiTaL fOoTpRinT; and I even had one employer reject me solely because I 'have no life history' lmao

Wouldn't be feasible. Null needs traffic because it brings new users on the site and so if they want to keep visiting this site, it needs some donations from them in return. If he decides to shut off the site for that long then the number of forum users overtime would simply reduce and he'd recieve less donations as a result.

What has stonetoss actually done that's threadworthy? I went over the OP a while ago and I don't recall seeing anything other than butthurt.

I check it semi-regularly. The first 40 pages are people arguing about this very conundrum, and it gets so heated Null actually chimes in to say "both sides of this argument are being so autistic, that it's proof the thread should exist" or something along those lines. The latter 60+ pages are mostly liberal copycat comics that try to imitate and roast Stonetoss and fail so spectacularly that they're also regularly followed. Basically he's a fairly clean person, but also he's a massive gravity well that attracts retardation and pulls it in like a spergy black hole. Also he animated for Disney's Owl House as a not-liberal and got away with it, pissing off all the lesbians and trannies obsessed with it, and amogus memes.
