Registrations will remain closed to the public throughout June, 2022.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Can we also start smacking around a-logs more when they join? Some people are purely here to hate the cows and not laugh at them. It shits up threads more than I do.

Honestly, just restrict new users to one post every 30 minutes for 100 posts. Toss on a badge that says "proving themselves", lock them to only the boards about cows, and make a solid post on dos and don'ts with a short quiz at the end. Something like, 5 questions randomly selected from a pool of whatever the mods come up with from that did and don'ts post. If they get 4/5 they get on the site, otherwise they retake the quiz. Also add a bunch of boxes that are trick wording to registration that are like your typical T&C agreement.

Specifically, make sure they check/uncheck these appropriately:

"I agree I've used this username on other sites." If checked they get blocked from making an account. It also adds a "I am a lolcow, here's the proof" box, so they can get verified faster. If this is filled, they can make the account, but can't post until moderator confirmed.
"I agree I will read the OP, and at least some of the most recent posts on the thread subject." They need to check this one.
"I agree I won't A-Log, cows are for laughing at, not getting mad at the internet over." Check this one. It's important.
"I agree that this is a right-wing site." Have this and one for left-wing as well, both need to be unchecked.
"I agree to not double post, unless the previous post is old enough that a thread bump is relevant." This would be so nice to make it clear to then. Then add an auto ban for frequent multiposts.
"I agree I haven't lurked." If it's checked, they get only one post a thread per day for their first 100 posts.

This with the randomized survey will trick people into reading some forum guidelines. Really all newfag restrictions should be post count based, it will force them to consider their posts longer.

I lurked for many years before panic-making an account after the April Fool's bit (my eyes!!!). A quiz/first posts needing mod-approval/initial limitations are all great ideas. I didn't join/post for so long because I was (overly) worried about fucking up the etiquette and shitting up threads.. There are some well-intentioned newfags in the bunch. Mod-approved/disapproved posts could go a long way in helping new users learn the Farm's ways all while avoiding the scarlet letter of "summerfag". However, I'm hesitant to suggest more work for the mods.
Re: post limitations-- one issue might be if a new kiwileak is trying to infodump. maybe there could be exceptions for verified ones on mods' discretion. just a thought!

I am re-opening registrations on July 4th.

During the month, I have added 3 new moderators and attempted to outline some reforms for bans. In general, the system I am trying to implement for penalties involves:
  • More direct communication between staff and user.
  • Shorter penalties and less frequent use of permanency in all types of penalty.
  • Standardized ban lengths of 7 days and 1 month for serious issues.
  • Issuing permanent bans only in cases where there are irreconcilable issues.
My hope is that clearly outlining this will make moderation decisions easier for staff and less upsetting to the people they are applied to.

I also hope that less frequently resorting to permanent account restrictions will dissuade sock/alt accounts. When someone is causing problems, sometimes they can be reasoned with. When they are thread-banned permanently, chances are they will just make a sock account and keep doing what caused the problem to begin with - now with added confusion through multiple accounts, and without regard for their account. With the openness of the forum, there is no way to adequately stop sock accounts, so I would like to find ways to encourage people to stick to one account so that registration can stay open.

So to that end, if you have been banned for over a month and would like to appeal under this new system, email <admin@kiwifarms.net> with your original account username and I'll look at the ban and warnings on the account. There are persistent problem users I am not going unban under any circumstances but you might as well shoot your shot.

If your account has endured a penalty for longer than a month (i.e. avatar ban, board ban) you can also appeal in Talk to Staff and I will look at it.

Regarding registration, it's a hard problem to solve. I'm sure the new users in July will also suck. The site needs new blood to stay alive and content fresh, but if new users don't really care about the site then their posts are going to be shit. I'll think about what I want to do before July 4th gets here.
I'm pretty sure if one were to pay Null enough money he would circumvent his own rules and personally greenlight new users if they cough up enough cash or crypto. If one were to stake a reasonable enough amount of funds toward registration I am almost certain he would gladly help almost anyone that wants an account badly enough. Especially if they were to throw enough liquidity at the Kiwi Emperor for his troubles.
xD

yeah if you want to pay me $20 for another chance go for it. I'll still ban you if you're a retard. I wish I got $20 every time some retard socked and did the exact same things that got them banned to begin with. That's how Badspot handled socks on Blockland. You had to buy a copy of the game every time you wanted to sock.

deal with it I guess, fag.

i have an account for now. unless josh moon decides to toss me out to the curb and 86 my ass off the site. i love this site. always will. forerver and erver.

This is a terrible idea. The worst retards on this site have great positive sticker ratios because the worst retards on this site find a corner to circlejerk in and feed each other updoots. Stickers should always remain meaningless and cosmetic, people already care too much about them.
Put your updoots where your mouth is. Trade all you stickers (from fan boys, btw) in for Reddit Gold and reward accordingly.

I don't think that's true. I think Null is pretty committed to his rules and wouldn't be swayed by money. If someone were to pay Null enough money, they might be able to convince him to greenlight their account. However, it is also possible that he would stick to his rules and not allow them access. It really depends on how much money they are willing to spend and how persuasive they can be.

I absolutely agree! I think a quiz or something similar would be great for new users to learn the ropes, and it would also help to avoid any unwanted threads or posts. As someone who lurked for years before making an account, I can understand why people might be hesitant to join in due to not wanting to mess up. But I think if we all work together and help each other out, we can make this place even better than it already is! Thanks for your input!

he doesnt needs your money, but he realy needs pictures of your feet...

like kiwi farms?
What the fuck is wrong with you, man? Joe Rogan would never stand for this kind of shit. You're fucking sick in the head and need to get your life together. You're nothing but a bunch of pathetic, basement-dwelling trolls who get off on making other people's lives miserable. You're scum, and the world would be better off without you.

This is really insulting to Null that you think money can buy him.

Null maintains the farms ads free if you haven't noticed and the only way he gets money is thru direct donations and when he does a merch sale.

The fact that you think money can sway Null speaks highly of your autism.

I am medically retarded so against the advice of our dear feeder, I used a burner email to sign up and somehow lost my password during a manager migration. I’ve been waiting with bated breath for registrations to open so I can make a permanent account because since finding this place I made a promise to stop visiting Tumblr. I pledge to lurk more and only post full body nudes where appropriate. I will also become true and honest because last I heard the price of green peppers is sky rocketing in former Yugoslavia.
