Similar story in Bongland and from what my friends tell me in a lot of places in Europe, even cities and towns with no local economy to speak of where prices should be rock bottom. What the fuck drove prices so much, it can't all be techbros moving to the middle of nowhere for their remote jobs? Either way they're part of the problem, I hope they all get fucked in the coming crash.

Yeah.

tl;dr too many people, not enough available housing.

Bongland has had a known housing crisis now for several decades. Nothing gets done. Too many people who make too much money by flipping property (even though bricks and mortar is always touted as being a 'bad investment'). Prices just keep going up.

A working adult in the late 70's could afford to buy their own property with a few years of hard work. That's pretty much outright, but certainly with the average mortgage at that time. Many did. But each successive decade has seen the real value of money depreciate. Today, you got no hope, not even as a keyworker.

Anarchy and anarcho-tyranny rule the day for many in places like London (which is a whole economy unto itself, not even accounting for the City Of London). And White Flight that took place from the capital starting as early as the late 70's even, has just accelerated exponentially from there. Pretty soon there will only be aristocracy and stokebrokers and movers and shakers on one side of the fence, and fucking nogs on mopeds who live in high-rise shit holes on the other, trying to mug them the moment they walk out of their front door. Everyone else in the middle will have been squeezed out. This only gets faster from here on out.

When I moved to London I knew I was taking a big risk. But today, to do that, you'd have to be fucking nuts. Wages are shit. Cost of living is through the roof. Quality of life compares to the great Rat experiment by Calhoun. "Oh what a rat race... Oh what a rat raiiice...." sang Bob Marley.

Quite.

Where I now live in a more quieter part of the country, there has also been flight here from London. I can spot it in the accents. It's not just Kent and Essex that have picked up the slack. In fact, there are people that have come from fucking Essex in flight down to here.

So why suffer in London with no prospects, being looked down upon by everyone you come in to contact with? Sure, if you're young and in a band, and you got the looks and the 'game' you can make bank for a few years somewhere like London where the girlies and ladies from all over the world flock for their little jollies. You might get to up your notch count night after night. But it's not a sustainable long term living plan.

As a keyworker, you will still have skills necessary in other parts of bongland and you will have better quality of life over all. As the Russians and the sandniggers buy up whatever is left of Mayfair and Kensington, pushing everyone ever further out and driving up property prices in places as far a field as fucking Camden, well, what hope do you have. Rat, here is a sinking ship. "Should I stay or should I go", sang The Clash.

Quite.

The population of the UK has risen by 3.5 million people in the last decade.
  • Population in England and Wales has swelled by 3.5million in past decade to a record level of nearly 60million
  • With 11.1million now over age 65 — one in six — there are more old people than children for first time in history
  • Concerns trend will close schools and push up immigration to fill job vacancies as result of ageing population

And there's plenty more where that came from. Projections for another couple of million on top!

UK population growth over next decade driven by arrival of 2.2million immigrants as Britain's aging population sees deaths outnumber births by 59,000 by 2030

The people arriving here are housed all over the country, but they are predominantly housed in places like London and surrounding counties after making their little trip here with their iPhones in their little rubber dinghies.

So that's a lot more people sucking resources. But of course, we need them to do the jobs that brits won't do and brit employers won't pay the wages for.

I'm doing the odd bit of voluntary work helping people keep their heads above water as they battle the corrupt councils. Dealing with people who hardly speak fucking English. Yet they have the 'housing'. I'm talking about the people working for the council. The ones I try to help? These girls have cancer, broken backs, BPD/Bi-Polar and are housed in one bedroom shitholes at the rate of over 1000 GBP a month, for a fucking room that does not even have its own door with fucking crack heads and junkies wandering through in the middle of the night to ask for a fucking 'rollie'. Let's not PL any more than that.

Basically, the land of the Bong is a corrupt shithole worthy of contempt compared to any banana republic. At least you know where you stand in Jamaica or Haiti. Or Brazil or Argentina.

So of course, everyone has been getting the fuck out of Dodge while they can, if they can. This whole scenario has been envisioned for many decades past.

More immigrants who just degrade and sap the system.
More rich oligarchs allowed to buy up whole swathes of whatever property.
No new housing being built.
Housing that is available is not maintained as it is owned by Nigerian Slum landlords who rent it back to the council for 'vulnerable' tenants, who will be there for years and years even with physical disabilities.
Those that have the nouse to realise what is going on and the means to get the fuck out, do just that.

It's a ship. And you are a Rat!

And if you have to question whether you are the Rat or the Rat-Catcher, then you are the Rat!

Meanwhile, in the rest of the country, people fucking off from London come here hoping to get away from it all. They never get a warm welcome. People born in these towns and these villages can't get jobs, can't get affordable housing and have to move away to mid-level shit hole towns just to survive. It's a form of emotional torture watching your relatives have to go through this kind of decay at their vulnerable time of life. But if you aren't rich, you will be atomised, deracination will take place and you WILL be privvy to the problems of SCALE.

House prices will keep going up. They will never come back down until the collapse happens, then it's all bets off for anyone who owns any kind of property. Probably best not to be living in it when that happens as well.

So many years of neglect. So many years of milking the system. So many years of "Selling England by the Pound", as Genesis once sang.

Quite.

I'm sorry, but I still don't see it. I don't want to appear argumentative as this forum gives me plenty of insights from people who would otherwise be unable to speak up, but this focus is on housing.

...

So deflation? I'm still not seeing it.
I think this is a well-thought-out post, and it will be interesting to see which of us is correct (or more correct perhaps)

Deflation in things you don’t need (another 75” TV or Apple gadget) and inflation in things you need (food, energy, housing).

Also a good point. We're going to see a lot of things go sort of haywire. Maybe you can get an iphone for $200 but gas is $14 perhaps.

Same here in burger-country-land. I moved out to get away and I initially felt out of place driving my Tesla to the farmer's market but now I shake my head as I see other people driving their Tesla to the farmer's market.

In the US it's a mix of remote work and people fleeing shitholes like NYC and Commiefornia. I mean you'd have to be an idiot to want to pay the obscene tax rates just to live in a city full of crime and homelessness when you could move to a quiet suburb in a state with no income tax like Texas or Florida and do the same job. This drives up prices for everyone in the states getting all these coastal fags. And as you said, the amount of immigrants is also fucking up housing prices, since even counties in the middle of nowhere had their Hispanic population go from like 1% to 5% between 2010 and 2020.

Lastly you have Blackrock who speculates on housing prices and land and all sorts of other groups speculating on houses and land. I've seen it myself, in my state these "out of state investors" jack up prices on land by like $3-5K/acre and they own a decent amount of "for sale land". Since I've been paying attention to the market for a while, I can see land vanish from the market for a while and then reappear at a marked up price.

Things are intentionally fucked because our elite want to drain all the wealth from the people.
Deflation in things you don’t need (another 75” TV or Apple gadget) and inflation in things you need (food, energy, housing).
At least with the crypto crash you'll be able to buy a really fucking good GPU. Sucks about the continuing chip shortage though.

Got to talking with the folks about food. Everything food-related has seen a steep 20-50% increase in price over the past six months. Government pretending not to notice the inflation, aside from some pithy California style handouts.

Gonna be fun when the stock markets finally fall out of the bottom, government runs out of money and goes bankrupt and everyone scrambles to pick up the pieces.

(For context: petrol prices and the prices of most staples like rice, flour, etc is still strictly controlled by the gummint. So we aren't even seeing the worst yet.)

Talking to mum on the phone. Told her that butter has gone up from 1.70 a pack to 2 quid. Expensive butter gone up from 2 quid to 2.30. No way, she says.

(I talked about this before but this is kind of an update)

Then the next day I call to talk to her, she tells me that the price for 500grams of butter has reached 5 fucking quid at Aldi of all places. Or was it lidl? Whatevs. Fuck, that's a lot. Even I was surprised, that's more than what is being charged at my local grocery shop.

The small packs of butter are obviously cheaper than the 0.5Kg big tubs, but still, as I'm shopping for butter again seeing how prices might have changed, I see the 0.5Kg (500 grams) is at £4.75. Fuck, that's cheaper than at the big bulk buying stores whether it was Aldi or Lidl. What gives.

But there are supermarket wars going on right now where even big name brands like Heinz who do baked beans have been stopped from selling because the supermarket doesn't want to pass on the cost to the customer. Read: They want their cut of the profit and we need to renogatiate how we are both going to gouge our customers and still get away with it.

There's a big grab going on at the moment, behind the scenes. Just like all the legal workers and postal workers and medical workers are now coming out to 'strike' for better wages. They can see they are being hit hard and they want to get in there first to lay claim to the land, kind of thing. Doctors as well. Pilots. Anyone with any power, not just key workers.

It's not going to take much more for this shit to really kick off. Soon.

You need to be 'prepping' as much as you can. But there are only so many goods you can hold, so many goods that you can buy that won't perish, and only so many good that you can protect if SHTF.

They say that goods are inflating at 10 percent say for sake of argument, but it's not like that in reality - goods are going up by 50 fucking percent or more. A packet of noodles that used to cost 50p now costs 75p - that is a 50 percent jump in price. I'm an innumerate fuckwit but even I can work that out.

People need to get good with those around them. Distance themselves from some folk. Make good with other members of family/extended family. Make new friends where they can, but with the right people.

We're all living in the most exciting time to be alive since pre-World War I and II.

Food only goes so far.

Weapons to protect your food only goes so much further.

The systems you have in place to hold all of that together goes that much further again.

I wonder when we'll see the first grocery store riots. We won't even need a George Floyd to spark off a Summer of Love. We'll just need fried chicken to hit 50 bucks per pound.

There was an unexpected sale on crab today. 17 bucks a pound. I remember when that used to be the regular price. I grabbed some figuring that it might be the last time I eat it for a long while.

We won't see any of the bug hivers bitch or acknowledge anything is fucky until doordash and uber eats start baking those increased gas prices into the rates fully and one mediocre meal from a middle of the road joint starts costing them valuable dildo money.
This reminds me - One of my friends is self employed and works delivering business cargo across the UK, there is a centralised quoting system kind of like an Uber for deliveries where companies go to hire drivers for one off jobs.

Though price of fuel has almost doubled recently, bizarrely the average price quoted by other drivers has gone down, his margins destroyed and his little business is going under. He is completely confused by it "what fucking Romanian gypsies with stolen petrol are flooding the market quoting ridiculous prices".

It's probably an outlier and whatever industry is still lagging on pricing in costs will catch up soon and a lot of people will be in for a rude awakening.

I ordered a very small number of pavers the other day to build a short path to a temporary pool in my backyard. Like 50 sq/ft. It was like stacks of 4 on a pallet. They would have easily fit in my sedan's trunk.

Home depot Dispatched a full size OTR flatbed 18-wheeler with forklift out of Atlanta to deliver them. The truck was so big he got stuck back in my property and we had to spend an hour chainsawing down trees to get him out.

The delivery fee was $35.

Just remembered, I snapped a pic of the truck. You can see my pavers on the back:

They're using agricultural diesel. No tax. The police would normally do them for it, but they're too busy being useless shites and taking long covid holidays.

Germans will forever baffle me in terms of how truly stupid they are. They had two massive gas pipelines rammed directly up their ass and cheap contracts but they decided to commit economic suicide because the Americans bullied them. lmao
Well, it's because an Austrian went to Germany, and did quite a bit then failed, so everyone decided to beat Germany into submission, making them (particularly the old Wessies) into nebbish bureaucrats who will slavishly follow the diktats of their masters.

Don't be too hard on them, they've been systematically indoctrinated to hate themselves and their nation for something like 80 years.
