Can't quote but here goes my usual spiel about intersex conditions / DSDs: Sex in mammals is a strict binary. There are no inbetween states and one can't switch from one to another. "Intersex" conditions (more accurately called disorders/differences of sexual development) are sex specific. Only males get certain DSDs and females get other DSDs (or the symptoms are dramatically different in each sex).

They often seem to believe that all things labeled as feminity are an intentional performance. They mainlined the theory that anything "socially constructed" is a performance and therefore can easily be adopted by an intellectual like themselves. Even though you can accept this as true and recognize that it's not so simple. All performance is based on practice, someone who practices basketball or ballet or being a woman will naturally perform superior to someone who has just taken it up recently even if the latter is potentially more skilled inherently at it. They skip all this and assume that at age 30 or 40 they can "unlearn" their maleness and take up femaleness. It actually doesn't matter how much any of this is socially constructed or somehow naturally innate because it's trying to skip the decades of practice involved. They really don't seem to grasp that cis people don't actually think about let alone worry about whether or not they're performing their gender correctly during all actions they ever perform.
Tony's performance is somewhat interesting because a lot of them don't even try, he seems to recognize that it's worth trying even if it only exposes how fake and bad it is. The uncanny valley is a complex problem but Tony seems to believe that the only reason it hasn't been solved is because he hasn't tackled it on a lark.

I made an account partly because of the developments in Tony's rat-king. When Matthew Yglesias signed a letter in support of "free speech and open debate" Todd wrote to their mutual boss, even though Todd was in LA and Yglesias in DC, that he now felt "unsafe" at work, then claimed on Twitter that he didn't want Yglesias fired or even reprimanded he just wanted their boss to know about the safety issue. (Yglesias later was strongly advised to leave Vox and later suggested this was the start of multiple issues.)

For anyone who hasn’t watched the show, Emily is a quiet lesbian and former professor who was separated from her wife and son, and was subjected to FGM as punishment for having an affair with a Martha (basically a domestic slave, reserved for women who aren’t fertile enough to be Handmaids but have useful skills) who was executed in front of her. She’s absolutely not fetishised, and her storyline is generally deeply sad. The idea of someone skin walking a character like her is both baffling and skin-crawling.

What I was reading moved me so much that I felt the need to write my first text in English since I left the school 15 years ago.
