They’re done by butchers who don’t have sufficient skill and who clearly just staple shit closed rather than closing up later by layer. That results in a lot of force in the skin layers as they’re taking the force of holding the wound closed, and that’s how you get bad scarring. You’re supposed to do multiple layers and have that take the strain and then close the skin carefully.
