Unlikely. Maybe the most contentious in my lifetime, but shit seemed way worse back in the day. In the 60's and 70's there were regularly political bombings that took place. In the 40's, a bunch of WWII vets led an armed rebellion against their county over a corrupt election and it came down to a gunfight and siege which the civilians won. Decades before that people were resolving disputes with pistols at dawn. We just live in a really cushy period of American history and every little thing seems like a travesty to us.

The trend started with 1994. It’s when talk radio was at its zenith and that functioned as a form of organizing where Republicans listening to Rush et al were motivated for the first time ever to turn out for a midterm election. It caught the (((elite))) by surprise as the GOP captured congress for the first time in over 40 years. Each midterm since then has been politicized heavily. The midterm elections are often anti-incumbent and the only midterm that wasn’t that way was 2002 and that was due to the ramping up of rhetoric for the Iraq war.

Each midterm has been called the most important midterm ever for about 30 years. It’s nothing new.

Ask her for her relative's thoughts on the Central Americans getting priority in welfare and DEI in Mexico over her own citizens, and how the caravans have spat on their hospitality while also draining their public resources as AMLO spends taxpayer money on accommodating them.
