Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If a lolcow meant someone who has an opinion that a certain group of people disagree with then this site would be flooded with unfunny crap. He really isn't doing wacky shit at all, at best you can call him a little smug. The OPs making 3 threads of the same topic across different forums don't really change that. Lets not try to degrade the word lolcow like so many other words that have lost their meaning in the last decade.

Let me rephrase that: Not Just Bikes generally makes videos that are genuinely useful/informative from my perspective as someone who didn’t have this context beforehand.

Knowing he has lolcow tendencies is a bit of a bummer… but then again, this is KF: maladapted shitposters have to be worse off than smug YTers at some point.

These people unironically love commieblocks and wish they were still a thing
Note that none of these overprivileged men who have lots of money would actually live in these. He also ignores extremely bad issues with these buildings that people have to suffer with. The comments section is actually full of Eastern Europeans complaining about the living standards in these buildings.

These people love the idea behind communism but just gloss over the problems with actually implementing these ideas that were advertised. The Venn diagram of unironic communists and urbanism advocates is a mile wide.
Well these are the people who will vehemently deny that life in the Soviet Union sucked for the majority of people. If anyone who grew up there complains about shortages of everything they're a capitalist liar pig.

You're forgetting how petty the delivery drivers are, my dude.
Fuck me, you're right. At first I was assuming it would be delivery drivers that work for the business in question, but I didn't even factor in that a lot of it is going to be unaccountable freelancers working through apps. And knowing the types of people those jobs attract, that's not a pretty sight.

Deflating tires is damaging property which is a felony, as to which I am allowed to use my cc glock to shoot any faggot I see touching my car. (in minecraft)

Thank you for making this thread. I've gotten sick of seeing this faggot in my recommendations on youtube

I've thought for a while that I've gotten used to the usual Reddit retardation and that nothing could really surprise me anymore. But then I found this. The thing about this movement is unlike the subs that talk about political subjects that could be a bit more nuanced in argument. Arguing against the use of cars falls apart pretty quickly if you even think about it for longer than a minute.

Some /r/fuckcars lunacy from their front page:

I find it funny that you can slowly see the cogs start to turn in their head when they realized they need to add more wheels to their bike. And then maybe an outside power source... And then slowly watch them reinvent the car again lol.

If you inhale dihydrogen monoxide you'll DIE! And we built pipes for this substance to freely flow into our homes and let our children around it!

My God how fucking retarded are these mouth breathers

You would think so but...View attachment 3612475

LOL that FireBike®! Why does something make me think that cyclists will studiously avoid yielding to it and somehow manage to block it's passage even if they're given the whole roadway to use?

Ever since bicycles got rather pricey the Lycra and Spandex crowd have started acting damned entitled.

PS: For an ambulance you just paint one of those rickshaw-caravans featured earlier in the thread white.

(If you can get a lot of them one can be put in each train station , then one train can be converted into a hospital and set to run in a circle. The "ambulances" can bring patients to the platform for the train to pick up.

In case of an epidemic you just have two trains.)

Just for the debatebros:

J.G. Ballard wrote a book for each side of the debate smouldering on in this thread:

For the Fuck Cars, Go Flats! side:

For the Vroom Vroom! Motor Car Go! side:

Happy reading, everyone!

I genuinely think a lot of this is sour grapes over never getting a driver's license/not affording a car. After a person gets to a certain age they almost never get their license. So they get really jealous about men flaunting their cars and having the freedom to do whatever they want at all hours of the day. So they want to drag everyone down to being as uncomfortable and miserable as they are.

It's very similar to Communists in this regard which tend to be people who and tend to be extremely self centered and want a central authority to do their thinking for them. This selfishness is always couched in compassion when in reality it's just a desire for power over people.

We're probably better off those kinds of people never mustered up the willpower to get a driver's license. It's braindead easy in the US. We have enough shitty drivers on the road as it is.

I wonder if there's significant overlap of the anti-car and pro-bug crowds. Both are populated with people that are coopting some pending crisis to push a dehumanizing, authoritarian sort of agenda. I think both also receive some kind of sexual thrill from the idea of forcing another person to do something. Going to look for a youtube channel with both bike lane crybaby bullshit and freeze-dried cricket reviews, I bet I'll find something.

I tend to agree with most of the ideas these people have except for the "ban cars" shit and the weird political squabbling. I think its undeniable that car dependency has made alot of people miserable, even Walt Disney saw this shit coming. It's weird that this part of the internet is saturated with so much soy, to me "walkable towns" is regressive not progressive. Bring back the pre ww2 coal towns, that was peak design in my opinion, a return to form. Maybe if there were some more trad figures in the scene more people would be on board.

One of the things I came across but forgot to document is the term "orange pill", which essentially refers to radicalizing people against cars. Yes, it's another overused Matrix reference, not to be confused with Bitcoin bros who use "orange pill" too but to refer to radicalizing people against traditional finance.

It started with this video by Not Just Bikes from a couple months ago:
Basically it's just doing the Morpheus scene but for hating cars and suburbia.

From there it just morphed into a sort of victory message for radicalizing people:

I mean… it is fundamentally true that public transit and cycling have tangible benefits to mitigating congestion. And it is historically true that the USA and Canada skewed heavily toward car-centric infrastructure to its own detriment.

Here’s my gripe though: no one cares to give the other side any real weight in an argument. It’s always one or the other being the ultimate moral choice, and it’s so fucking tiresome.

I’m a filthy peasant relegated to public transit and the occasional bike trip because my shitty car finally died. Could it be better? Of course, but being smug about cars isn’t gonna make more people come to your side.

Equal and opposite forces are supposed to cancel each other out, but in this case, it just results in more overall faggotry
