People don't understand that one whiny person online is just one whiny person. They think there are more angry people if only one complains. Organizing a small group of people to mail to local politicians is a strategy discussed in far left handbooks and it works. This may change as boomers and gen x get out of management or just PR roles.
The insane people at big tech companies don't get reprimanded unless they do something that damages the company or is against the internal politics. Do you want to deal with an emotionally unstable person's neurotic episodes as HR or a manager? What if the person has intra-company connections? These unstable people make friends with one another and create a defensive web. Transgender people are the latest to receive a pass on this behavior. Null says never hire transgender people for a reason.
Whatever happens, happens. They knows that the site won't go down. I don't break the law and can scrape together money for a defense. The more audacious the lawsuit, the more likely I (as the defendant) will receive pro bono representation from people who have no interest in protecting the forum but millions of dollars in corporate interest in protecting whatever 1st Amendment issue is being litigated.

That kiwi isn't a hivemind where everyone thinks the same way and different opinions get censorend/banned is exactly what makes it a normal place. Just like offline you get confronted with all kinds of people and you have to figure out a way to deal with it. And the best way is to be tolerant and respect other opinions. Even if they are upsetting and cause anger. It happens to everyone but by confronting yourself with it you learn to deal with it. Then a different opinion won't cause a whole community to freak out and cause a scene, cause drama.
