Basically, gay ships good, straight ships bad. Which is kinda the standard in vtubing tbf.
I get it. Straight ships are bad because they might conceivably produce a baby that your oshii would then love more than you.

Concerning Kronii's response, I don't think she failed to address the main issue. When you get down to it, the reason the weirdos don't like it is because they see it as their woman in a relationship with another guy, and she's like "We're not fucking guys, that's crazy, we're just playing a game together."

Straight ships good, unless you're a Holo e.g. Connor x Mouse = good; but Connor x Calli = bad
for the record Connor and mouse hate the shipping shit between them as well so that's probably not a great example. When they did a panel together at AX they specifically screened out any questions that would even tread in that direction a little bit and they regularly call their viewers cringe when they try and make it a thing.

Honestly even in Niji straight ships are something the talents generally want to be kept away from. They are only ever really engaged with in a humorous manner (like the old Niji "best couple" stream), and close relationships are typically not framed as romantic. GunKan is a bit of an exception in JP in that Gundou and Kanda said they were fine with it as long as the fans are respectful. Most JP members wouldn't even mention such things, IMO. Gundou even mentioned that some "duos" kinda disappeared because the vtubers didn't want to deal with the drama.

On the EN side there are close male-female dynamics - moreso than in JP - but again, the livers make sure not to really frame them as romantic. The "don't ship us unless we do it" dynamic still exists, and in practice that only means gay ships because the girls mostly just flirt with other girls and the guys mostly just flirt with other guys. A few members have said they don't really care about ships regardless of gender, as long as it's kept away from them.

I think light shipping is fine - that is if these people stuck to the idea of being anime characters they're voice actors for, but none of them do that after like the debut stream. I think that's why I view Korone/Okayu and Flare/Noel as pretty harmless and cute. Calli/Kiara was an issue because Calli was obviously not into it at all and the fanbase made Kiara get sick of it eventually too.
Honestly I like Kronii a lot but she shouldn't have even said anything if that was what she was going to say - which she then backtracked from completely on twitter anyway with.
"Shipping is cringe, but do continue doing it if you want, draw it too" like bruh she had no idea how to approach it

I mean I think the bit she said there about "as long as both parties are comfortable with it" is an important distinction there that you're omitting. And she made it pretty clear she wasn't comfortable with people shipping her with the stars boys.
But as others have pointed out she's enjoyed some of the mumei related stuff so this ends up as less of a backtrack and more of a clarification that she's talking about recent happenings and not previous stuff.

or hell I think people sometimes seem to forget that even Girl x Girl ships in Niji have caused some issues for the talents involved. Like Crossick, both of them have at times had to tell fans to chill out and back off a bit because they were going overboard with it and derailing the girls streams when the weren't together.

It's kind of a non-statement to me unless every talent makes a checklist of who they are or aren't comfortable with without having to rely on tells. Just say everyone in female Hololive is gay and the Stars are gay and be done with it, at this point.

Kronii was THIS close to admitting to being gay.
"Realistically speaking *sighs* you guys know me better"
>Don't ship co-workers
>had a stream with Mumei reading fanfics shipping FEMALE co-workers
Yeah, that's on the Kronies.
Ahem...
Tl;dr, Gay joking ok, gay serious no. Straight serious ok, straight joking no.
I think I'd like to add that for gays and lesbians basically all ships are off limits. If any girls came out as 100% completely seriously actually lesbian, then I think that makes any joke flirting with girls awkward also. Basically, anything that could be seen as serious should generally not be joked about. (and also people shouldn't be gay because that's wrong)

I mean when put in the context of todays stream it's a bit less of a non statement because people have a short list right htere of what she's not comfortable with. It stops being a non-statement when you can point to a immediate example of what she's talking about not doing.

I think what made it bad for Crossick was that they're actually a couple and had begun to feel like fans stopped appreciating them as individual creators but two halves of a whole.

Anyway shipping is for faggots.

Call me a Boomer, but from the moment I started watching Vtubers, I always disliked the shipping culture. I understand Vtubers are at their core are fictional characters being played by Voice Actors. But the line between persona and the real person can be thin going from person to person, especially with English Vtubers where the indie scene is huge and personas have less emphasis put on them, it starts to seem more to me like you're shipping two real people and not personas.

I mean I think the bit she said there about "as long as both parties are comfortable with it" is an important distinction there that you're omitting.
I worry people can mistake silence or bemusement as approval, I mean, Calli has always been somewhat uncomfortable with her ship with Kiara, yet you can't go a few pages on art sites or on Twitter without seeing ship art between the two.

Ahem...

That's also fair, I feel like the majority of people are uncomfortable with straight ships because they seem serious, and shipping two people that could realistically, actually be fucking IRL is weird for most people because it walks the fine line between shipping for fun and speculating on other people's relationships. So if Kronii were to come out as gay, I feel like the number of people shipping her and Mumei would go down significantly.

Overall, maybe I just associate shipping in general too much with the rabid teenage girl shippers of past fandoms (See Zutara or Reylo for the examples I remember the best), where the creators would get actual fucking death threats because they didn't confirm two fictional characters were fucking.

The EN stars are genuinely entertaining in their collabs with the girls, so it’s like a double win. The more of these that happen, the better. There is literally nothing in the entire unhealthy retard tire fire of vtubing fandom that is more genuinely entertaining and life-sustaining than delusional unicorns having their autistic fantasies assblasted into oblivion. So these collabs can both provide this service as well as hilarious original content? Sign me up!

You weren't kidding lmao

I hope she does a week of back to back male collabs, fuck these retards. Her birthday merch, and Botan's 1 mil, are supposedly shipping soon too; as usual IRyS is last in line.
All this for a fucking Lesbian roflmaooooo.

I will say that after seeing 4chan and Reddit's takes on this shit, I'm glad this site is still up.
I’m so relieved to have the site back lol. While I’m more of a lefty than most of the people here, the Reddit hugbox and a good portion of Twitter is incredibly embarrassing, and on the other end, /vt/ is populated with deranged sociopaths. I actually kinda like you guys.

This is kind of old now and no one probably cares, but on Saturday Phase Connect's Remilia and Rie played the bomb defusing game and at the end had some rounds in Chinese-only. They explained that they'll be doing it in "our mother language" but they speak different dialects (1:32:03). They decide on Mandarin only and to me it sounds like Rie is speaking naturally, but Remilia struggles with it. Hopefully this means Remilia is the better kind of Chinese and not mainland, as I've been enjoying watching her and would hate to have to stop because she turned out to be the enemy.

Saying that, shortly after, they suggest playing in Japanese-only, and Remilia declines, saying "Japanese is hard"..in Japanese, while clearly knowing how to speak it (1:44:37) it, so I dunno.

The only acceptable ship is the one where Demon God King Ragus and Actually a Woman Rio cucks The Maggin' Furlord away from his one true love as they make heart shape. This ship fuels the Maglord's developing and deep intricate revenge NTR lore where he cucks his own magmites away from their wives in retaliation as he quietly seethes every night from being unable to stop himself from being cucked. #JusticeForJohn #GetMagged #HeartShape

Edit: Speaking of Magni, he is still streaming wtf I think most people are asleep in NA by this time except degenerates like me. Is he trying to beat Vesper's record?

Here's the real reason why Mori supports homo collabs so much.

Meanwhile after shilling chink games on stream Namie is finally opening a bilibili account, are you excited?

Wonder if it turns up to be some business/sponsored effort as I was predicting weeks ago
Surprised the Chinese government haven't started their own Vtuber agency, it absolutely would not fucking surprise me.

Seeing all the shit China did in relation to Vtubers reminds me how much of a shithole Authoritarian countries are that they see Cartoon women as a threat, the west might be shit but at least I can pretend to be an anime person without having to register my name and all my personal details.

They've tried to do a duo of vtubers, it didn't go well

I archived it just for the post because I know some people prefer that rather than giving clicks to random news sites.
