Why did the new male branch of Hololive take off but Sun Tempo didn't?

Tempus is new and shiny and was for a new audience. There were a lot of EN Hololive fans who genuinely were intrigued by the concept of male vtubers - after all, most guys have no problem watching other forms of internet content created by penis havers - and were thus willing to try Tempus out. And since the Tempus guys are all pretty good streamers, a lot of those people stuck.

Holostars didn't get a huge JP following to begin with (though their popularity has always been pretty good - they're not failures) and subsequent gens thus don't come off as some new thing. JP fans of the Hololive girls have enough girls to watch (far less dead air in HoloJP than HoloEN) and EN fans aren't super likely to actually get in and watch JP vtubers. JP fans of male vtubers generally gravitated towards Nijisanji.

Popularity is in large part just about getting people to watch your streams in the first place. The Orc was posting his stuff to Reddit for quite a long time as an indie, but most people just aren't gonna check indies out. Once he's in Holo as a part of a hotly anticipated new project, though, and he gets the views.

Holostars JP aren't failures. They do well - better than most JP male vtubers - and they have their fans. It'd probably take a Kobo like person who breaks out for whatever reason to really push their popularity to further heights, though.

Just because you rarely see clips of them doesn't mean they are neglected. If they are neglected why Hololive still producing merch and offering support for them?

If you want to see neglection just take a look at HoloEN and HoloID, big viewership and subcount but they can't even support them in getting a studio for their 3D, at the very least give them funds to help them. Also just take a look at iRyS, her "redesign" is in development hell with no end in sight.

Because English market did not have Holoboys. Ever since Luxiem blew up everyone has wondered if StarsEN would be a thing. Meanwhile Stars on JP side are basically dying. That said if any of them go independent they will probably have to quit streaming. Sad but these guys as indie wouldnt even get half of the viewers they get now with a huge brand behind them. I still feel the marketing for Stars is a bit shit and they should look into expanding into other niche markets other than "Male Idols".

I can make your day better and confirm for you that there was a part of her members stream where she read an excerpt from a book about clingy parasocial relationships openly asking before hand if this maybe "applies to some people".
I ended up downloading an archive of the stream because I was curious how the further talk on the collab topic went since I generally don't too deeply trust peoples (here or otherwise) quick rundowns of member streams, at least when it comes to proper details and specifics. and I just got to the part where this happened.

If IRyS were being "neglected" she wouldn't have a redesign in the works whatsoever, it's unfortunate that it's dragging and not ready yet but they could have just as easily told her "tough shit that's your design"

And we know very little if anything as to what has actually caused the redesign process to take as long as it has though that hasn't stopped most people from just assuming it's Redjuice's fault without basis.
