No spite whatsoever. There is a certain level of damage that does not respond to therapy. These are people who are not ever going to get better. The question then becomes "what is to be done with them?". Should we allow people who potentially pose a threat to themselves or others to run around with agency that they don't have the cognitive function to be trusted with? Or should we separate them from general society to live out full, happy lives in a safe, controlled setting with wiser heads looking after their affairs? We do this with hospice care and group homes all the time.
