Why the fuck do we even use these electronic voting machines? The paper ballots were fine. It sure is weird how ever since we got electronic voting machines we got worse politicians being elected. I remember 20 years ago the left demanded paper ballots because the electronic voting machines were made by Diebold and since one of the board members of Diebold donated to the Bush campaign, all electronic voting machines were tainted and therefore paper was the only way to go. I know little about Katie Hobbs but Kari Lake is one of those “I don’t know anything about how anything works but I’m gonna tell it like it is!” that I think people are getting sick and tired of. The Governor is supposed to be someone with extensive executive leadership experience, not journothots who have an outsized ego. I doubt Hobbs is worth a shit but I completely understand why Lake is losing. We don’t have four years to waste on these thots who aren’t going to lead anything.

They're supposed to be faster, easier to use, and more transparent.

Yet somehow they are slower, break down easily, and nobody knows how they actually work.

The technology and software is absolutely there to do it quickly, efficiently, and verifiably fraud-proof, but the government doesn't award contracts for things based on that kind of criteria.

You get government contracts for your voting machine hardware+software by:

1. Having the right vendor assessment/agreement (the government worker will never be liable)
2. Having the right price (the government admin will always opt for the cheapest solution unless their family member owns the company they're buying from)
3. Having the right ownership (I've completed dozens of vendor assessment forms where they point-blank ask if you're owned by their pet minority cause)

So you end up with the shittiest versions of everything, because the government will never choose innovation. Your voting machine's security is as secure as the helpdesk in Pakistan or the database being accessed by Indian '''developers'''.

With that assessment in mind I can see why based on their characteristics some voters would find one or the other appealing.
