The Owl House centers on a teenage girl named Luz (Sarah-Nicole Robles) who, after being unintentionally transported to the Boiling Isles before leaving for summer camp, befriends the rebellious witch Eda (Wendie Malick) and her cute demon housemate, King (Alex Hirsch). Despite lacking mystical abilities, Luz works as Eda's apprentice at the Owl House to pursue her dream of becoming a witch.
The show is unexpectedly mature, with a contemplative narrative that recognizes the universal problem of young people experiencing grief and their attempts to cope while still being able to balance horror and humor throughout. Moreover, The Owl House has distinguished itself from previous Disney media by providing LGBTQIA+ representation by featuring a same-sex couple in the leading role.

you gotta keep in mind, disney never said they censored it for the kiss lmao. the show aired 4 seasons on disney channel before it was cancelled for being dark and complicated- baring in mind that disney channel itself is more aimed to like age 9-15ish. kids didn't watch the show because it was scary and weird.

Yes, it's useful for parents. Kids will want to watch a show, parents will assume a cartoon with fun-looking characters is suitable, show turns out to be too mature for the kid. Parents complain, Disney refines the categories to keep its customers. But of course anything to do with child safeguarding or boundary-setting is going to make Tony seethe.

I haven't seen Owl House, but a lot of cartoons that get picked up by the insufferable Tumblr crowd are just aimed at older kids or young teenagers, and tumblrinas fixate on them because they are stuck at about that stage of development. Same applies to a lot of anime spergs.

It doesn’t seem super degenerate but definitely not the sort of stuff most parents want a 7 year old exposed to. IMDB Parental Guide seems to agree it’s probably more a 8-11 year old range show.

In case you didn't know, Elon Musk did not give anyone access to DMs and "the company computer" but like is normal released selected files to reporters. This had nothing to do with "Stan for Libs of TikTok" and instead a theory about Twitter moderation practices that the Twitter Files haven't supported according to Taibbi.
