Steve Quest (p/k/a Montagraph) vs. Nicholas Robert Rekieta & Rekieta Law, LLC (2023)

Didn't Rekieta call one of Randazza's partners, and I quote..."A Fucking Faggot"? Is there really a bridge there? Randazza is a 1st Amendment Lawyer, and that means he is a Politician First, and a Lawyer Second. I seriously doubt he's going to hitch his wagon to a drunk hedonist.
If I remember, this was around the time Vic was still plodding through the courts, and J Wolman (a Randazza partner) threw in his two cents. In response, Nick called him a faggot. Randazza tweeted something to effect of "you called my partner a faggot," which is funny wording. ("You called my buttsecks partner a faggot, the nerve!"

Man, this is some old weeb wars lore. I don't even remember which thread this came from.

I also seem to remember Randazza and Nick had some positive interactions on twitter over something 1st Amendment related or another.

Can he afford a couple grand? Probably. But a couple grand here and a couple grand there and pretty soon you have no grands left.
He's not pulling out, though. He's diving in.

Hiring Marc Randazza for this lolsuit is just being nigger rich. It's the same thought process as buying that Mustang when he should get a Subaru. It's putting on a big show of hiring the most famous guy to defend a stupid lolsuit. If it weren't for bullshit politics, he would have hired fucking Popehat for the clout.

Compare him with Dear Leader. When sued by Greer, Dear Leader cut a flat rate deal with a well-respected local attorney who had beat Greer before. When sued by Melinda Scott, Dear Leader hired a guy (sorry, forgot his name), who provided an excellent no-nonsense defense.

That is why Dear Leader is a fucking chad and Rackets is just a schmuck.
You forget that he makes MONEY from this shit. Hiring a famous lawyer might pay for itself. At the very least it brings in a high profile guest... if he can stop jerking it to 50 year old tits on locals long enough at least.
I watched some of the clips and I got the impression that he's toying with the idea of drawing this out as a business decision, rather than getting it dismissed immediately. He's unsure about setting up a GiveSendGo but it's the superchats that matter and he can easily rake in a bunch of $500 in minutes if he says the magic words. He also really wants to be the first lawlyer to livestream during a deposition.

He could get Randazza to do a tiny/moderate amount of work needed to bury the lolsuit, get him to appear on the show a couple of times, and do other parts himself.

He also mentioned the possibility of getting it moved to federal court.

It’s prime defiant behavior to ignore the summons and refuse to give an answer in the time frame when you’re already a lawyer in the given state and presumably know that the clock is ticking.

Denying Nick an extension of time is a jerk move by Schneider but adds some comedy to the whole mess.

He does criminal defence, though. He might not be all that familiar with the civil side of things.

Yeah, i wasn't as clear as i should have been. He's not going to, not even for a little while, he's going to keep fuckign up. I just wish, merely for the sake of his kids, that he would. Case in point, how much money is he gonna waste on this lawyer? I mean i can understand it in a small way, show people out there that think about fuckign with you in a legal way is gonna bring a very robust pushback.
Dude is on the road, he isn't coming off the road, no matter how many offramps he's shown.

I also seem to remember Randazza and Nick had some positive interactions on twitter over something 1st Amendment related or another.
Nick did offer a genuine apology on this as well upon finding out that the guy was gay. I'm not sure if this came before or after their positive interactions, I presume beforehand since I remember it happening within a few days of him saying it

It was almost immediately after the Doucette lawsuit stream. Nick apologized, saying he crossed a line and blamed it on the whiskey.

That sounds about right. Specifically what I remember him saying was along the lines of that as a rule you should never apologize but after it happened he started getting DMs saying that the guy was actually gay, and if that was actually true that he'd reach out in private to make the apology, and it was before he started throwing faggot out more casually, hence the booze playing a factor. So I don't actually know if the guy is gay or if Nick made the apology, but based on the subsequent interactions I assume it happened. I started watching before he would even really swear on-stream so a gamer word slipping out was a legitimate shock to me lol

I presume it's already been archived elsewhere on the site.

He sued nicks law firm, not the llc he runs his show through, so that will be a Minnesota LLC. Even if the parties get substituted it'll still lack complete diversity because Nick is getting sued in his home jurisdiction.
Yeah, but Monty isn't suing for Torts that happened IN Minnesota. The idiot decided to tack on Emotional Distress. The Emotional Distress happened in Colorado, not Minnesota. And all the evidence for such distress (like doctors visits and so on) would be in Colorado and not Minnesota. Which means the Minnesota Court is not the proper venue for the matter alleged. Colorado is.

He would have to drop the ED torts to avoid removal to Federal Court. And even if he didn't there is still partial diversity which means the Federal Court could step in anyway. Especially since there is service shenanigans afoot.

I have the clip in question. I made the clip on 3-3-2020, so the show was on or around that time.

Nick is now claiming he has not paid the retainer and has filed pro se. Also claims Montys lawyer is dodging calls and not calling back.

Edit-
Here is Nick flat out saying he officially retained Randazza.
Timestamp 3:41

And now, here is Nick saying, (first clip at 1:18) oh no, he actually didn't.

Now, the story is, he just indicated he was going to send the retainer but didn't. Yet in the first video he very clearly says he officially retained Randazza. I'm sure he'll dance around this saying he didn't say he actually sent the retainer, but there is no fucking way anyone would listen to that first clip and think that Randazza was not officially representing him,
He even says in the first clip he would be an idiot to represent himself...
