It wasn't an ordinary Mustang. It was a GT500. He doesn't really seem to understand anything about cars though. I think his watery brain only understands higher HP better.

He took delivery of the car in the middle of the winter during a snowstorm. He tried to drive it home from the dealer with the stock GT500 tires through the snow and put it in the ditch. He had to be towed home. The problem was him not understanding the car, the tires, RWD and that a GT500 isn't something to be driving in the winter.

I will slightly defend this but only cuz of personal experience. When me and a friend were tweens we met the son of a family friend who was I think fresh out of college at the time. Let's call him "Kyle" Klye's a very talkative dude and during a little get together we started talking computer stuff, discovered he was a computer nerd and gamer, and really loved to talk.
For me, at the time, I was usually the one to obsess on 1-2 topics when making new friends at school to find out that other kids would be weirded out by how I nerded out on topics, so to finally meet someone who was eager to talk nerd shit for hours straight was really cool, my friend was an artist and into cars and Kyle was a pro artist, had a really nice car and nerded out on gearshit too.
Anyways we thought this guy was super cool and took any chance we could to hang out with him despite him have more than a decade on us. We even asked him to take us to see movies a few times. He did mention to us that a non relative adult hanging with tweens was weird but we didn't care/see the issue at the time. Also we weren't gay so there was no fear from anyone's parents about any sexual shit.
So I can kinda see this girl thinking drex is the coolest and wanting to hang with him if he gave off those vibes, but obviously a situation like that could very easily turn into grooming
