THE ABSOLUTE, INARGUABLE TRUTH (as I see it):

Sanctioned Suicide is full of emotionally manipulative horrorcows, but adults with sufficient personal reason should be allowed to kill themselves if they so choose. The government shouldn't be going out of their way to provide assistance to do it, but it shouldn't be completely taboo either. There are lots of people in world, some would say too many people (I would say that) and the percentage of those people who at some point may consider suicide is probably waaay greater than anyone truly knows, but the percentage that actually pursues it to conclusion is comparatively low. I don't believe it is quite the spiraling epidemic that concerned mothers would have you think it is and I would argue that the majority of those concerned (usually single) mothers weren't in the least bit concerned about the topic until their child (who they likely goaded into trooning out or who they started shoving medications down the throat of from a very young age, convinced they weren't "normal") became a part of that percentage. I believe that SS being a hub of advice on how to come to an end with the least amount of physical suffering is fine, maybe even noble in a sort of fucked up way, but that providing or directly linking to sourcing (with referral codes to help "give back" to your "content creator") for the actual means to implement the action should be off limits on the platform itself. A sufficiently motivated adult should be able to source the necessary ingredients without needing someone to literally hand them an all-in-one kit. The forum itself is cancer. It largely encourages sociopaths and narcissists to use it as a means to garner ass-pats from other sociopaths and narcissists and to manipulate vulnerable children. Anyone there with a sincere intent to actually follow through with the act will by necessity not be posting for very long. If it was my site I would ban anyone who regularly talks about wanting to kill themselves without any indication that they will ever follow through and I would ban anyone where there is even the barest suspicion that they may be under the age of 18. Besides that, adults should be allowed the courtesy of autonomy over their own bodies.

But keep in mind that simply explaining a method of suicide is not encouraging someone to do it. You have to find an actual instance where someone is cheering on suicide.

This is what I thought. Considering the troon aesthetic heavily mimics the hot suicidegirls they are unlikely to get. The incel to troon pipeline is real and FC is probably a fat ugly old man.

You've always been able to find detailed instructions about suicide online. You've always been able to find pro-self harm content online. Parents have always been told that they should've paid more attention to their kid after their kid commits suicide. There's no point in debating the existence of pro-self harm content because it does exist, and no amount of coping twitter posts or, lord help me, Kiwifarms posts are going to change that. Does no one remember "soft grunge" tumblr? Have you checked reddit recently? The original fucking blueprint for the exit bag came from 4chan iirc. These are much more mainstream sites that have had much less nuanced pro-suicide content for ages. At least SS is capable (broadly) of discussing the issue in terms of personal autonomy and not just fetishizing the act itself.

Also, what's up with the SN method? That sounds pretty painful/unpleasant compared to a blood choke or an exit bag.

These are posts of people reprimanding others for encouraging suicide. Not only is this not proof that encouragement is allowed but it's proof that encouragement is banned and the ban is enforced by jannies.

Same thing happens here where fedposting (violent threats of imminent nature) is banned as quickly as possible with other posters ridiculing them. That doesn't mean fedposting is allowed, in fact quite the opposite.
