“Give it another decade” is what people have been saying since the 70ies, yet they became more conservative, not less.
And yeah, there are young Moslems doing things they’re not supposed to.
The difference is that even when they do, their traditional values remain. It’s for example far more accepted that a young man acts in a Western way than a woman.
Worst case scenario, if he keeps acting out, the family will find him a conservative wife from the old country and he’ll be forced to settle down.
Except, my point was that (obviously) society as it exists today in the West, didn't exist in the 70s. When you look at fiercely Catholic countries, the same trend began back then - outwardly upholding the values and adhering to the rules, yet privately breaking them at every available opportunity.
As for the women - that's not been my experience or observation in the slightest. I've met a number of young Muslim women who have one night stands, take drugs and other similar behaviour. What you'll find is that they're just far better at hiding it than Muslim men - precisely because of Muslim men. I've had a number of casual sexual relationships with Muslim women - they all had an anxiety attack whenever I suggested we go to a bar that was apparently nearby an area one of their family might be in, but it didn't stop them from engaging in whatever activities it was they wanted to do.
I'm not saying you're wholly wrong, but one of the biggest flaws/misconceptions around Islam is that people seem to think they're impervious to external influences. They really, really aren't.
